I reserved a item for £99.99 reduced from £150 last night at 11pm.

Wasnt near the argos i reserved it from the next day so i popped into a argos in another town and tried to get it for that price and they said no as of today the price went up to £150. So ignored it and went to the original argos i reserved it from.

Got there and the reservation number went through at £150. I argued it was £99.99 and she went to check. Said it went back to £150 at 8pm and i ordered it at 11pm. I said it was £99.99 and i have the email to confirm it was £99.99 when i ordered it at 11pm.

Woman insisted it was not suppose to be £99 at 11pm and therefore i wasnt entitled to it. So now im left with alot of fafflin ie... goin home, printin a screen dumb + email of the price and go all the way back to the store.

They said no matter what i saw the price at when i reserved it, they have the right to change the price without telling me and i have to pay there new price.

COMPLETE JOKE.

They can change the price because you did not pay anything to confirm the contract. I know you can't if you are collecting from store.

This has always been the policy tho, its the price you pay instore when you pick up the item.

If it went back to £150 even 10 mins before you popped in you'd still have to pay £150.

Pretty sure its up to the manager aswell if they give you it at £99.99.

Annoying,but they can do that. When you make the reservation, I'm sure they mention somewhere that the price you pay instore may differ from the price displayed at reservation. Or something along those lines anyway.

When you reserve an item it does say...

When you place your reservation, you will be given a reservation number to take to the store. Prices may change on a daily basis due to special offers. The price you pay will be the price in store on the day you collect and pay for your items.


So really you should just get over it.

they say the price changed at 8pm so why was it displayin the lower price 3 hours later? they should update there website quicker or infact have a timer on each special offer so people know when the offer finishes.

Im sure you wouldnt be complaining if it was the other way round, say at the time of reserving it was £100, but when you collected the next day it was £50, or would you insist they charged you at the price you reserved it at? Offers do end, fact.

Tesco grocery online will charge you more if you choose to order and have the delivery date after the offer end date.

That doesnt make sense? anyone would want it cheaper of course and the only reason i bought it was because it was cheaper than normal price.

So your saying if you reserved something at £20 but went to collect 70 mile round trip got there and they said no it went up as of today to £70 youd say OK THANK YOU with a huge smile on your face then go all the way home?

Whether you reserved your item at 7.59pm or 11pm, the fact is that when you went in store the next day, they would have charged you £150 whichever time you reserved it at, because they are allowed to do this, as it states at the time when you are placing the reservation. The offer ended at 8pm, so if you weren't in the store before this time, then you don't get to pay the offer price. Frustrating - probably. Worth getting so peeved about - def not !!

Oh, and if you check the description on the item details, it tells you when the offer ends, so you don't have to make out of your way trips to pick up expired offers

Did you not look at the expiry date of the offer which is clearly listed in the description?

Scroll down to the additional information and it tells you this offer ends 10/11/09. And yes, before you ask, I do check expiry dates before I go to collect because I don't like wasting my own time.

Just put it down to experience :thumbsup:

I think you miss the point of reserving something .

you are reserving the item, not the price. If you had reserved and paid the money there and then you would have a point, but you didnt.

What store did you reserve it at. Go back to the store and speak to the manager.

They will over-ride the price for you. Their system showed the price change at 8pm as that's when the systems where shut down in that store, the price was valid till 3/11 at 11.59pm.

The girl must have been having a blonde moment not to have realised that the price changed when they shut down, was she a xmas temp?

FREE FUEL and that was the only argos with stock. So seems like extremely good sense to save £50 no??

i always print out my reservation as that way the store manager normally honours it and i did it just last week when i got to till it came up full price and i showed them my print out and he adjusted the price for me :)

That is the normal practice.

Contradictory to what the argos website states, if you query the price change instore at point of sale, the reserved price will be honoured.

When you make a reservation, YOU ARE NOT RESERVING THE PRICE, you are simply reserving the item. This is why there is the sentence that states the price you pay instore on the day may differ to the reservation price.

If the offer ended on 3rd Nov, you can't expect them to honour the offer when you went in on 4th, especially when you haven't even paid for it !!!

Policy is policy, You could ask to speak to the store manager and he may be generous enough to honour the price. However clearly it's at his discretion.

But isn't it irrelevant that they say it should of changed at 8pm... they are obviously mistaken.

You reserved on the 3rd knowing full well the offer expired on the 3rd but when you went to collect on the 4th you wanted it at the old price :giggle:

regardless of free fuel, I would always price check anythong before setting out on a 2
hour 70 mile round trip

a lesson learnt perhaps so not all bad :thumbsup:

Contradictory to the argos sites t&c's, if a customer reserved an item before a promotion ends, and queries the price at point of sale, we will honour the reserved price. Its standard practice in all UK argos stores, and it has been for a while now. Excludes ROI.

Contradictory to the argos sites t&c's, if a customer reserved an item before a promotion ends, and queries the price at point of sale, we will honour the reserved price. Its standard practice in all UK argos stores, and it has been for a while now. Excludes ROI.


And Slough - they love a good argument over nothing in that store. There'd be more chance of me winning the lottery than a manager there doing anything in favour of a customer :-D
