I took my car off the small island i live on at the cost of £30.00 to be told they didnt have it, and they wont be getting anymore in stock. the manager said sorry and that was it, im bloody mad!!!
No offer of compensation, no let me ring round. Oh and just before i walked into the store at 12.05pm the moblie phone rang to tell me it wasnt in. Too late.
Has this happend to u ?
Im wondering how often they do this?

My opinion, is yeah annoying sure, but these things happen, mistakes are common, I feel sorry for the guy who probably got the mouthful;-)
Seriously where do you live £30 to go to Argos

just what i was thinking £30 where are you? and would it not have been cheaper to get it delivered?

my guess is some where monopolised by Cal mac (grrrrrrrr)

Yeah it would anoy the hell out of me too. you could try writing to head office but I'm guessing you wouldn't get very far

I had the opposite today, reserved online and didn't get an email, didn't write the code down. Went down there and explained, told them the time and other details and they found the reservation and the item which was the last one for at least 30 miles.

It would only be like going to Tesco or wherever to get the latest beer deal off here or something and finding they didn't have it.

Crap happens, alas you just have to deal with it.
#5
yes where do u live -- life is crap what do u expect?
i have been to argos halfords and tesco many times but where is this island
#6
yep its happened to me
#7
Well your not the only one, coz i would of flipped also :)

Why the questions about my address? Dont you think the service is shoddy?
If they say the item is in stock then it should be. If the doctor sent you to the chemist for a perscription and it wasnt there youd be ****** off. It make a mockery of their ring and reserve service, " ok, its here, come and get it", then its not there. They dont deliver to the island and i did not give the staff a hard time, i intend to do that to the chief exec.

not very supportive, not the right attitude, bad service needs to be addressed

Welcome, but one question are you on the "island" of lost? :)

I have been to the Chemist plenty of times with a prescription from the Doctors to be told they don't have it and to come back later in the day.

Ultimately the person you spoke to you didn't lie (assumabley the automated phone system?), to the best of their/it's knowledge they had it.
It's not the managers issue you choose to live on an island where coming to the mainland costs you £30... so why should they compensate you?

Like I said, you could go to the mainland for something in any store that you thought/knew had it in stock and don't. Would you demand an apology and compensation from them too?

Working 5 years in retail I got sick of people like this. It's unfortunate, but you just have to think whatever and move on

why not home delivery save all that money and time? why is your location such a secret!
#14

He already said they don't deliver to the island.

TBH I'd be pretty peed off if that happened to me - what else can you do to actually make sure it's in stock? If it were on mainland, the fair enough, but to not live on main land and be inconvenienced like this is not pleasant.
Can't even call Argos stores direct to make sure - I've never been able to find a contact number for an individual store, but I'll bet someone out there will show me its possible

exactly what i was thinking!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not the IOW is it, because you can get a car to the mainland a hell of a lot cheaper than £30, my home town is Pompey and I did part of my training in the hossy over there..........if it is you paid way over.

Holy crap mistakes happen, maybe your attitude towards the manager, made him not want to help?
Just a quiet bit of advice, not matter how hacked off you are a bit of politeness in this kind of situation will generally see you right:thumbsup: You say you were polite to the staff, but were you? Honestly?

As a psychiatric nurse, my greatest ability is my communication skills. If you think saying,"i find that unacceptable, please give me the address of the complaints department" is being rude, then please tell me how you would express your displeasure at being treated in such a way.
Im now in the situation where my daughter cant attend an event as pre planned, because i dont have the item promised in the email.

im happy for you.

I was told today there was no stock left. the web site has just reserved me one in a store 40 miles away. i will wait for the call to tell me tomorrow they have made a mistake again, more evidence for my complaint.
#23
tinkerbell28
It's a mistake ffs, maybe forward planning would of seen your daughter be able to attend the event, purchase in advance, mistakes happen, it's human nature, you should know that:thumbsup:
Where do you live that it costs you £30 to get to the mainland and something you needed for said event was left to the last minute............................just asking.

i was told today they was no stock left. the web site has just offered to reserve me another one in another store nearby, so, its still a mistake? I did not leave it to the last min, the item is unusal. i resent that im being asked to take the responsibiility for this charade

maybe you should have waited until you had the item in hand before committing to the event for your daughter and that would save any unhappiness or disappointment.

but to be fair it is all computerised and things do go wrong as we all know these things do happen and unfortunately all we can do is live and learn.

^^ Some may say you have too much time on your hands, or out for a bit of the magic word you mentioned..................compo.

Could be yes, or stores have ..............wait for it......................daily deliveries.........................even of clearance items.............really :)

still waiting to find out how to complain your style, hope you can keep your cool when it happens to you.
thanks for all your understanding
your sound like a very reasonable sort

Then they should have them working properly.....they advertise all over my bliming tv...telling me to buy from them....they say they have this, do that.... want ur money...entice u in...then *BOOM* sorry tough luck.. 'we made a mistake'!!
I know mistakes happen but surely a little common curtesy........a sorry for messin u around I'll see if another store has it...or se if we can get a delivery to you, etc etc...

^^ Yeah but to be fair, you are getting a one sided rant, no offence op, but they seem rather peed off, no one knows exactly what they said to the manager:thumbsup:

No I agree....I'm talking in general tho...any company.....offering me something....then pulling out!! Actually that sounded a bit dodgy...but u know wot I mean:oops:

but as i said earlier in this quote i would never commit my kid to something unless i had it in hand and knew all was good with no chance of disappointments.

Yeah I know it's annoying, but to wage a complaint gathering evidence, a bit ott for a res that fell through, just my opinion:thumbsup:

I'm not sure about the gathering evidence bit lol but I would certainly have told em wot I thought and have expected at least some sort of an effort to try and help for the inconvienience.......not really a hardship I don't think anyways:thumbsup:

Anyways off to bed, night x
