Hi,
Looking for some advice here please. I bought a digital camera from Argos last week. Got home, charged the battery, switched it on, and one of the pixels on the screen is permanently switched (camera still works, but just irritating). Went back to the store for it to be swapped, and of course no more in stock, and it would seem country wide (I doubt that but...) Offered me a gift card voucher in exchange, but really do want that specific camera and went home to contemplate. Just seen the same camera at Comet, can I insist that Argos refund me my money, so that I can go and buy it from Comet? Am I within my rights?
Thanks
Gazza

If the camera is not suitable for the purpose for which it was purchased (ie taking pictures) you have full entitlement to a full refund. Credit notes etc are not an acceptable alternative.

Whether a dead / live pixel is a "fault" is debatable. I'd still argue my case saying that in the dark, this live pixel distracts from the use of the camera.

This is outlined in the sale of goods act.

Don't listen to the argument that cameras are excluded from the 16 day change of mind policy.

You should get refunded to your credit card or whatever you used to pay (we always did). If they don't ask to see the store manager.

Argos have a 30 days money-back guarantee, so you should be OK (I think!)

I bought a 14inch TV/DVD combi for my grandaghter and after 3 months it developed a fault and when i returned it to Argos the sales assistant made a phone call to see if it could be repaired and she was told no it cant and offered me a replacement which was fine and what i wanted to do but they were out of stock so i was offered a full refund but I opted to pay a little bit more and get a different model.

The Argos girl was superb in the handling of this but I think as usual with most things like this it all depends on the person you are dealing with.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Tell Them To Stop Being Silly With The Voucers And They Sold You Faulty Goods If It Has A Dead Pixel Or A Frozen One Its Faulty

Argos do indeed have a 30 money back guarantee, BUT, there are exclusions and these are indicated in the catalogue.

A dead pixel may be annoying but is not considered a defect unless there are 5 or more.

Unless the camera is shown in the catalogue as exempt just take it back and get a refund either on your card if thats how you paid or in cash. You do not have to accept vouchers.

Yea, check on the web to see if it's exempt - if it isn't, just box it all up and take it back saying it wasn't suitable. If it IS exempt, take it back saying it's faulty, and as they can't replace it, you would like your money back.

I think they are quite reasonable, so hopefully all will be OK.

just go back and see the manager? i have never known argos to be unreasonable..take it to another argos and tell them that it has an intermittent fault-battery doesnt keep its charge or something:roll:
