Argos NOT honouring internet prices ?

Had a disappointing to trip to Argos today as they didnt honour internet prices eventhough I'd a reservation number (reserved few hours ago). They wanted to charge me

Palm Tree and Rainbow Play Centre - £9.99 (instead of £7.49)
2 Channel Headset Walkie Talkies - £14.79 (instead of £3.70)

and claim they dont have to honour internet prices. Never happened before and I guess the system hasnt updated the prices in-store. Anyone else having similar issues ?

All I noticed in the emails is the price you pay is price instore on day of collection regardless of internet prices.
So say you reserved last night at 1 price,by next day it might gone up in store.
Kind of a waste to reserve really cos you think you getting the prices you see when you reserve.

pasted from an email

This reservation relates to the item(s) only, not the price. The item(s) have not been paid for and the price you pay is the price valid in store when the goods are collected. This may result in the price being different, for example after a promotion that was valid at the time the goods were reserved has ended. Please take your reservation number to the store as you will need it to collect your item(s).

might be though that the systems not updated, don't suppose you want to take another trip to Argos another day to get price at lowest.

I had this problem before, I wanted a miele hoover and it was at a great price so i reserved it but i realised the offer finished before i was collecting and they told me i would have to pay full. I dont think it was right as i then had to pay fior delivery

i thought this was always the case unless you have a nice/naive supervisor/shop assistant!

Reserved @ 10 am today and tried collecting in the last hour.. Surely, they cant change price every hour :)

Seen someone mentioning that the Argos system updates everyday at 6:30 pm. Not sure if this has anything to do with their poor pricing policy.

Yeh looks like you might need make another trip if you really want the item and see if you get at right price.
#7
edi, did you try and buy it online?

I only buy at Argos online if heavy like sofas and stuff.

I'd rather save the delivery fee and buy a bit each time I go down and carry it home.

they can do what they want, until money changes hands there is no contract, sorry edi.
but dont dispare things are going to change as new laws come out.

Raptor-"they can do what they want, until money changes hands there is no contract"

Fair enough but then they should give you the choice of buying it and then collecting so you can get it at that price

Had the same problem when I reserved a Sony A100 digital camera..online it was £329 which I reserved for local store pickup..went to the store to collect and was told it was going to cost me £399..told the sales assistant to forget it as I reserved it at the price advertised on the website.

Ended up ordering it online again but choose home delivery..got it for the £329 plus the postage cost...saved myself a wee bit of money. Dunno how Argos can get away with it to be honest..but they do.

A bit naughty :?

Does ringing ya local store first give the price?

Well i have been reserving a fairytopia toy for the last week and when i went to fetch it saturday i realised i had forgotten the reservation number so came out without it as she said she wouldnt be able to find it. Had she have offered to go online then she would have. Now i have got to reserve it again all week ready for next sat

They can do what they like as no contract was formed in the reservation and they do quote the instore price is what you pay.

However, if this is a continual thing, its one for trading standards / watchdog to take up.

Its not something that has happened to me personally, but I wouldnt be impressed if it did!

i purchased the ds case and game case that was on this website today, it was coming up at 19.99 on the store screen, she checked the internet for me as it was showing as 4.99 when i reserved it and only charged me the 4.99
#22
It makes me mad as i needed the fariytopia for a present and the ****** at the till never even offered to look it up on the internet even though she could clearly see i was disappointed and having 2 kids one of which that was screaming. IF she had of just looked it was still there

We had the same problem today, but it all came good in the end...

Darling OH saw PS3 Ratchet and Clank on here for £19.99 at Argos, so reserved and went straight out to Argos. The automatic machine was trying to charge him £39.99 so we went and spoke to the supervisor who got someone to look on line to check that it was advertised at £19.99.

They then honoured the £19.99 price and said they'd had loads of problems with this today, but were honouring the internet prices...

This was in Basingstoke BTW

Yep, had the same problem.
Reserved the headset walkie talkie and a baby's playmat for £7:50 yesterday morning, went straight into town and they wanted to charge alnost £15 for each.

Cheaper prices are still showing on the internet now.

had something similar last week. needed the xbox 360 mega pack so reserved it online for £39.99 but when i got to the store to pick it up it came up as £29.99. result.

so it can work both ways.
