I believe retail law is that shops etc. will only refund the original source of payment.. even if it was in store with a credit card, they wouldn't give you cash on a refund.

The OP is not asking for cash are they, just asking if they can take an item back to store if bought with Paypal online

The OP says "can I get a refund instore". To me that says can I get my money back from instore if I take the item in.

You must know something the rest of us don't

They will have to contact Argos Direct anyways to authorise the refund. Chances are they will put the refund through at their end and make a note to say the item has been returned to store.

Lol if the op wanted to know if he/she could return something back to the store they would have simply said it like that but this suggests otherwise "get a refund instore"
    P.s I hear there's a sale on at specsavers ;)

I bought something with a voucher that was online only, took it back to store and they gave me a cash refund, it all depends what the person in charge says

I work as a customer services team leader in store, currently the only people who can authorise and refund paypal payments is the call centre. If you were to go into store, you will be giving the AD number (08456402020) and referred to them.

In rare cases we can use our discretion and refund in cash. Your best bet is to just call Argos Direct.

Or go into store and ask them to ring Argos Direct.

What happens if you've ordered something online and when it's delivered it's not what you want - I'm assuming what I wanted isn't in stock. Happy to take unwanted items back to store and exchange for vouchers - up to value of unwanted item - anyone know if this is possible?.

I am complaing to Argos right now about this NO YOU DONT!:( Be warned if you buy a big item and use paypal and need to return the item, it wont get refunded if you take it back to the store. I know as bought my son a bike off argos online and paid with my paypal however some of the screws were missing off the bike and nuts wouldnt tighten when courier delivered it, and it was a bit shoddy made so returned it instore letting them know it wasnt suitable had a few flaws ,but got told by store staff, 'we dont know how we refund if you used paypal? 'and then store rung head office and then told me i was only' liable for store vouchers'. I am so angry I said I wanted cash to go elsewhwere or a reversal of paypal as it was a lot of money out my account, and I was told sorry cant help you, ring our headoffice to raise a complaint! Means I am stuck with a stupid argos only store giftcard to the value and that is no use, my debit card assoiated with my paypal account couldve been reversed or cash given out the argos till as I had all receipts in hand had only got the bike the day before. B**tards.

yip but it felt good i have now spent the voucher...shoddy goods as well..they say that paypal is a different institution and they offer refunds directly for goods not received, but i know that i got a camera off boots online once i used paypal and i took camera and paperwork into a local store said i had received a camera that wasnt same as image and i would like a refund, no probs at all, they took my paypal associated card checked it was in same name as my paperwork in the parcel, and put the money quickly and without fuss, back onto my visa debit card with a store receipt showing a return and refund, onto the card which is associated with my paypal account. now, why could argos not do that? clowns dont understand, i have used paypal online for about 9 years and i could tell argos how to go about a reversal lol
