i reserved one of the digital room kits last night & there were 2 in stock at my local store & i have just had a messaged left on my voicemail saying that it's out of stock!!
is this possible or are they just hoping i won't go to collect it?

I've never had this happen to me - why not give them a call now - they should be open.

Probably a bad stock count and they looked and couldn't find them

that's the thing though .... if i call they aren't going to tell me that they are hoping i don't go to collect cos they want it! it just seems very strange that there were 2 when i ordered & they phone me as soon as they open & leave a voicemail saying they haven't got any left :?

a member of staff might have decided that they want it seeing as it's so cheap :whistling: i know people have had problems like this at currys & pc world on here & just wondered if argos staff were doing the same thing?

I had this with the itunes vouchers, the till was putting them through as one and the stock was not being reduced. They gave me a letter written at the store offering to honour the deal when stock came in. I'd turn up with your number and tell them you want the goods. Got to be worth a try.

Tills are only as accurate as the staff who work there :)

How can a till physically count the stock. It only knows what someone has put on the system after a stock count and if it was human error and they counted 2 on the line below the voila

but it just seems very strange that they had 2 in stock when the item gets reduced to a really low price though :?

i w ould have thought that tills would automatically get updated when they get stock in & all stock going out has to go through the till at argos? :?

I would search other stores and if you find any of the item, reserve it. Go in to the store with your original reservation and if they claim no stock, request they have one delivered from another store. Be indignant and of course you haven't yet checked your voicemail !!

I ran an electrical store for 3 years and I had to do a stock take every month. If you count wrong the system will be wrong and when you are counting 1000's of Sku's it gets boring and you make mistakes. Anyway thats my guess about why they didn't have them :thumbsup:

BTW you have to update the tills to see if there is any shrinkage...Staff Theft and customer theft not just deliveries in and sales out

wasn't sure how it worked but staff theft is my guess as these wouldn't be out on display in the tiny argos by me :whistling:

I tried to reserve something that showed out of stock and then called in the store and there was loads of them stacked up,So yes the system can get it wrong,

once i checked online and they didnt have the item i wanted in stock to reserve but i went to argos the next day and the machine thingy said one available :) so maybe try going to the store :thumbsup:

i once reserved something went to the till paid for it and was waiting when i thought this is taking a long time...... when i asked they said it was a mistake and they had none left (yeah right, i bet a member of staff had first dibbs at the last one) it made me very angry as i live 10 miles away from nearest store, ive never been there since just out of princip;e lol

I used to work at Argos, things go missing all the time. The chances of a staff member picking it off the shelf and deciding they want it so cancelling your reservation is very low.

It's hard to find things at the best of times, that's why you have to wait so long when you buy something in store.

I worked at Argos for a bit a few years ago and I reckon the most likely explanation is that they didn't put it aside for you and then sold the two that were in stock.

Out the back, in the stockroom, reservations aren't the staff's top priority (in my experience anyway, especially if it's busy) so they could have sold the two that were in stock before they put yours aside (and then, when they went to put yours aside - found there weren't any left!).

Another explanation could be that they put a reserved sticker on it for you but then sold it to someone else in error.

If you make a big deal about it, you might get some vouchers or something cos the managers get really annoyed when something like this happens.
Anyone who's worked at Argos before will know what I mean when I say "you gotta do your 3-2-1 countdowns, guys!" (or something to that effect) :p
