ARGOS RESERVE & COLLECT - PRICE CHANGE

iglimpseiglimpse

Reserved item for collection Weds, cost £36

Sister collected it for me, used the collection code i gave her. But she was charged £49..

Surely the price should be what I ordered. If I was having it delivered, they could not charge me more because the price had gone up after ordering it. Long way back to shop to sort this out.

Anyone know the Argos policy on this.........before I tackle them on it

    I'm afraid they're right

If items are in stock, your reservation will be held in-store until the end of the next working day. Items marked https://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argos/en_US/images/p2/extra_logo_white.gif may not be available for immediate collection in all stores but can usually be ordered in from the warehouse for you (subject to stock). Items which need to be ordered in are usually available for collection within 3 working days - the exact dates will be shown on your reservation. When you place your reservation, you will be given a reservation number to take to the store. Prices may change on a daily basis due to special offers. The price you pay will be the price in store on the day you collect and pay for your items.
Check & Reserve is not available in Call & Collect stores. To reserve at a store in the Republic of Ireland, please visit Argos.ie (this is a separate website and will open a new window).

As per Redlron's post, the rules do allow this.

It depends if you checked when the price was valid until on the argos page for the item, argos have a nasty habit of putting prices up when they have advertised a certain price for a certain length of time..
E.g the slow cooker on offer for £9.99 the other day, the item page said 'price valid until 24/12/08', so i reserved one and went in the following day to find the price had gone up. Went to customer services and said "err nah" to them, quoting the 'price valid till 24/12/08' and they gave me the item at the price at which it was reserved.. might be worth telling them its a mistake on their part, that the item was reserved by you specifically because their site had it at that price 'till 24/12/08 and you spent a lot on petrol or whatever to pick it up and now to bring it back, and see what they say..

they will just say - if you want a refund fine - but it states the price you pay is the price on collection

Not if its exempt from their MBG.

oops yes you're right there - if excluded from the 30 day money back guarantee - they wont let you return it unless faulty

Exact same thing happened when I went to collect a HDMI upscaling freeview box, advertised £20 on the website, only available in 1 store in greater manchester, travelled about 1 1/2 hour (on 2 trains) and about 40minutes walking to get it when I got there it had gone back up to £50! Didn't have a leg to stand on, its ridiculous! I haven't shopped at argos since then as I despise them lol

they will honour - they did the sdame to me the other day when I went to collect, I came bck home and telephoned the head office who put me through to the store and they said come back bring order receipt and we will honour

I doubt they will ....i've been rejected a few times with price changes.

Even then it's only a £13 difference ....and sounds like the OP live miles away from the store.

It'll cost the OP even more time & fuel if they say no.

    I'd just bite the bullet.

It's up to the manager's discretion to honour or not. Happened to me with the 2 for 1 towels that appeared on here a couple of weeks ago.

Why not just pay to have it delivered... - sounds a bit of a mission to have done that :?

You really need to ask before you pay,I have had this happen several times and mentioned it at the checkout and the manager has said Ok to the lower price,This has happened at least four time that i remember, and in different stores,

    Much appreciated guys

Phoned today, they won't budge because the offer finished the night I ordered it (I did not realise this).........so it's going back. Onloy got it from them because they were the cheapest but now they are not, legwork to start again, worth it for £14

Have learnt a usesful lesson where Argos is concerned......get it on the day or else.

i had this the other week.. but i went to customer service before i paid and they honoured the price i had reserved it at, no problem.

Great news. Sent hubby in yesterdy, he acted daft and just said he had not realised the price had increased..........and they believed him. So well done Argos.

They should change this rule though. If you reserve and collect, you have to collect within 2 days, so not as if there is a long gap. Must cause a lot of aggravation for them

I reserved two iPad minis for my boys for Christmas and reserved them with twenty pounds off. My wife collected them and was charged full price. I went back the next day and they refunded the forty pounds without question. Excellent customer service, well done Argos.

It's happened yo us a few times and each time the girl at the till has called the manager over and they were able to check on the screen that it was a lower price when we reserved the item and the manager told the girl to charge us the lower price.
