My hubs broke down this morning and been waiting over 2 1/2 hours for a tow truck (flatbed style one) to bring his car home, twice they have given him a time and no one turned up. So he phones them back now they are saying it's going to be another 2 hrs!!! Can you do anything about this sort of wait? like complian and get membership fees back?

sorry rant over!

WE broke down on the M20, just past a slip road onto the motorway. In spite of us telling the AA the junction number & the direction in which we were travelling they said that they couldn't find us - their driver was looking for us over 20 miles away! I was told that I couldn't have a refund so I cancelled my subscription.:x

call the cops?

It's the AA - they are not contracted to specific response times so no you can't complain and get your money back

It's not their fault they are busy

Check your policy - i think some memberships have a maximum wait time.
Probably not yours though or I think they would have been out to him! Worth a look though.

I was in a similar situation on the M1 recently. The AA have a duty to be there within 2 hours of the reporting or the police take action. The traffic officer with me gave them a right run-through.

All the AA drivers are effectively freelancing nowadays, and have a maximum distance they're allowed to travel to pickup someone. You might've been right on the boundary between two operators.
