Anyone attending any of the events on around the country? Would of liked to attend to event at Chatham but it's a bit too far for me. Not alot seems to be happening round my way. Events are here http://www.armedforcesday.org.uk/

Support your Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen. The majority of people on this site couldn't do the difficult job they do.

Yeah the road is having a big outdoor party, something you would not see on civvy street :)

Days like this when I wish I was back in. You don't get the same friendships on civvy street. However my wife was unhappy so I had to leave.

Difficult job  yup so difficult that the Army seek out people with lack of education to do this job as nobody with half a brain would do it otherwise.

At least my education is ongoing while I serve, and I'm 100% sure I am more qualified then you.

Your entitled to your opinion, as are we all.

I am incredibly proud of the service my father and Grandfather gave to this country.

Strange , last time i checked , i had a 100% secure job what requires qualifications... unlike the Army once your finished they dont really care what you do , hence why some end up homeless

I have and have had family in armed service , i think it depends what and who they are fighting for and just cause i have family in the armed service does not mean i approve on what they do....i may change my mind if it was something worth while.

My grandad was shot ,survived but did he end up with help , no once he served his country that was it , goodbye , makes me sick

I mean , get shot in the legs these days they cry out for compo , mmm you join the army yet what money if you get shot :/

I think they should have help once they leave , but no money for being injured as you signed up , you wasnt forced to join

It sums up your mentality if you think the idea is to go out and just kill people.

For the record I very much doubt you'd be accepted into the military, they have a very good recruitment system to weed out people like you, not that you'd have the balls to do it in the first place.

would be "kewl" tho lol...i'm glad there aren't lads like op defending our country. Our lads do a great job and know full well what the job entails. As did the brave soldiers that fought in WW2..they were young lads with respect and pride for their country( like your grandad Andy)

But i have respect for the folks that fought in WW2 , but im i proud now of the people fighting now , no i dont , i find it disgusting

About time this country sorts its own problems out first , dont you think , care to explain what our so called brave lads are fighting for , because i bet you any money half of them dont even know

When im older im leaving this country as i think its a joke , hence why most retired people now sod off cause they understand that this is no longer a great country.

Yes it makes him a lot better than you, so don't come here calling all armed forces uneducated, unless you want to be show up.

It was you who decided that you're better than anyone in the military as they're idiots for signing up.

And for someone so clever your understanding of the English language and punctuation is quite shocking. I actually find it hard to believe that the military would have even been able to read your application let alone accept you.

Op was simply trying to say, I thought about joining the Army applied, went to take the BARB test and failed on the English part of the test, and ever since then had a big chip on his shoulder towards the Army. :whistling:

I think this was the comment that may have got some people's backs up.

I couldn't do the job because at the moment I think I'd have a lot of trouble blindly following questionable orders.

Suppose I should stop reading and get back to my uneducated, baby killing, politcally incorrect and "blind" job eh?

Contrary to popular belief, not all people in the Armed Forces "blindly" follow orders, we choose to join up as most of us are proud to serve. Some people in this country, and indeed in this thread, would rather stand and spit at our troops on the street than have the brain to stand up and applaud what we do. I'm not saying my job is more important than anyone else's, what I am saying is that as you grow up in the Forces you learn to hold your head up high, knowing that a majority of people would rather shake your hand than tell you to get lost and fight the "illegal" war.

Oh and in case anyone is interested: I'm a Royal Air Force Weapons Engineer, who will be on parade on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with head held high.
#33
I really wanted to go today. Spent 3 years serving with the Royal Armoured Corp (RAC). But also love a guy in uniform.

Andy, people like you disgust me. Your not even half the man like iCodd and tinkerbells husband.
#34
Just think. If no one went inito the forces we would have no one to protect us and our county could be in a far more vunerable position than it is.

Don't think you need to paint yourself as a victim quite so much. If you're looking for sympathy then maybe start a thread asking for it. I know many people in the forces who don't need to act like their being victimised.

But my comment was based on the fact that soldiers can't question orders. The whole system relies on blind adherence to superiors, doesn't it?

That's why I couldn't do the job at the moment.

Just literally had the red arrows flying over the roof of my house! Any lower and they'd have taken the satellite dish down!

Awesome sight. Awesome noise!

No victimisation here.

I can question orders, that's why I joined the Air Force, where we are allowed to think for ourselves.

My point is that too many people claim to be patriotic etc but then flame the military as if it's every individuals responsibility! Remember that everything the Armed Forces do is co-ordinated by civilians that have no idea how to fight.
