arrgggg not my day today - heating/gas probs now :(

Not been a great few days for me, why does nothing run smoothly!

ok, ive not used my central heating since early on in the year, a few weeks ago started using the fire in front room only, yesterday decided we needed the rads on in bedrooms etc, wouldnt come on, eventually they fired up and all was good, but not for long, the pilot light which clicks then fires it all up seems to be doing so alot, this is not right im sure, the green light flickers on then off.

Also my gas oven has been randomly going off today whilst cooking a roast, was fine 2 days ago, hob rings seem ok, could these be connected??

called HA, they said as i have heating its not an emergency to call in the morning to arrange a call out.

I dont know naff all bout all this so does anyone have any clue? lol

Not an expert, but hope you get everything sorted quickly. Good luck

Sounds like a gas supply problem doesn't it?
#4
The way you should call them is not:
I have a problem (explain the problem)
The way to get a response is:
My gas doesn't seem to be working that well, I guess there might be a leak (ask really dumb) and then say you are fine for the moment because you light a few candles and are going to get a disposable bbq kit to cook food.
(They will be over quicker than you can say boom)

Yeah it sounds like that to me too. I would ring the HA and tell them you can smell gas and suspect a leak. Once they are there they may as well sort the problem, just say the smell was there earlier

You can't be without heating this weather with children

the heating works strangely, once its on the pilot light thingy just keeps ticking etc
#10
Maybe air in the system that may correct itself.

Bet you it doesn't happen when they come to check

I always try here for my problems in the past very good and quick responses.

Does the pilot light stay lit?
Does the bolier actually fire up and stay on?

Step 1 - Go next door and use Tracey's heating and bath.

Step 2 - If yours still isn't working tomorrow sabotage hers and you can suffer together like all good friends should. :-D

you shouldnt be using your fire, its so expnsive to use, always use your rads, even if only needed in specific rooms, turn the others off
