I cannot work out how to slot in the ink cartridges, I know where they go but the instructions are vague looking like you push the cart in, I see a little hole which I guess is for the ink, but how on earth do I align the carts

Had this printer 2 weeks now and need it to print out some uni essays urgently!

Instructions are in the manual - open up the lid of the machine and the cartridges go in two slots on the right hand side. You slide them in and actually lift them up until they click into place - a bit different from most other printers which you normally push into place. Once these are in you have to align the print heads - go into printer preferences (which you will be able to access from the print function in any program) and the right-most tab contains the various maintenance options one of which is alignment. You print off a page of patterns and input the number of the pattern which looks clearest (it's fairly self-explanatory when you do it).

I will take a quick pic to show them in but im sure they are wrong(for one the ink carts are on the left not right) and the pic shows them under the casing flat i.e stood up at first then pushed down at end.
#3
is it a canon printer?u simply put the ink cartridges in there slots, push up and back until they click.

Hope this helps

man just seen ur pic, thats wrong, look inside u'll see a connecter, its like little pins, like a chip, they match up with ur cartridge, instructions are very vague i agree but u'll kick urself when u do it.do exactly as the set up says, then like i said, from the back of the cartridge push towards the back of the printer and upwards till it clicks, its almost like th back end of the cartridge is floating.just be gentle,it doesnt take brute force haha

For some reason I still cant do it, I push the cartridges in and they dont clik
#7
lift the bcak end of the cartridge upwards, show me a pic if u can of how u have it in
#8
It seems not to lock into place thats the problem I can get to stage 6(the lablel looks as it does in the animation) then when it lifts it comes loose.

Im doing something wrong with the locking
#9
ryouga did you go to the page i told you.
It's all in live diagrams for you !

u got MMS on ur mobile??i'll take a quick vid on my phone of how its done and send u it,i'm heading to my scratcher as soon as, so if thats ok with u i dont mind doing it to help u out, private message me with it
#12
Yeah I already went to the site and im confused as I already did it the way they say but it wont lock.

Does it lock automatically when you push it, as when I do a single touch of finger will knock it out of holder.

Its the lifting part I dont understand, because as I say it isnt locked in place.
#13
Wait I think I had it right all along I was thinking it locked into place, as the colour one seems to be snug now(will take a pic) but not locked as I can move it left or right, the black one seems to be a problem though
#14
Ryouga your photobucket pic is showing you have the cartridge the wrong way up ?
#15
I know I guessed that wil take a pic of it now.

looks good ryouga............go for it !!
#18
Maybe but the thing is in the instructions for the website it shows them both at perfect angles to each other whilst I can get the black one in its higher up than the colour one.

Though if I find out I was right all along grrr

The colour one wont push in any further its the black one that seems really loose
#19
ur right the colour one doesnt go in as far in m8,maybe about, what, half a cm, 8mm further out than the black,i think ur tricking ur mind into thinking its difficult,i do it all the time ha ha

about the website, its probably a different printer is it?take it u bought the MP460??
#21
Anyway, just stick them in and give it a whirl,it wont work if there installed wrongly so u can fiddle somemore then if thats the case,u might just surprise urself m8.
#22
Same one on website and yes the colour cartridge sticks out a little.
#23
look at stage 9 on the website ryouga, thats how they end up
#24
Nope not installed right, there must be some way to lock them and i must be missing something
#25
take out the cartridges
close it all up like when you first opened it
start again

(there may be something which has clicked out and needs to go back, if that makes sense)
#26
and follow the canon website examples step by step !!
#27
have you place the colour and black in the right slots cos the colour wont fit in the black and visa versa
banned#28
Crickey! I think I'll avoid canon printers if its that difficult to change a cartridge!!!! ;-)
