I have 2 downstairs neighbours, the stereotype chav, drug taking slappers, who put their music on so loud it makes our floor shake(we have wooden floors) and she come in at all hours drunk, and even when sober slams doors, shouts screams and swears and had loads of lads round for a "party" which involves the girls screaming "ooooh oooh" non stop at the top of their voices. They also have a bass guitar which they put on full, and a few parcels of mine have gone missing.

A few times they have had all night parties till 8am, plus these girls never seem to sleep at all, they are always awake(probably the drugs)

They are friendly to us to our face but its the parties and the door slamming at all hours, the dogs barking and coming towards us threateningly.

The Agency which owns the flats isnt bothered, and tells us its up to us to sort.

After 4 months of this I have flipped and put my music on as loud as them, and THEY have the have the cheek to hammer on my ceiling as if to say shut up, and I hear them swearing and and shouting shut up, even though I can hear their music ABOVE MINE! Says a lot.

Invite them for chicken.
#2
:O call the council they can sort it out.
#3
Keep a record of all the noise, both time and date. Then call the council and present them with the record. They will do something about it but it may take a while.
#4
Get a louder stereo..............................

I'd contact the environmental health due to the "noise pollution".

Or contact the police (At least if you contact them, You can make a record to say "I did try this but the police didn't bother")

Oh, you must be the person who lives above me:w00t:

Joking.

I've had neighbours like that. In the end I used to put my speakers next to the wall where they slept all day, first thing in the morning, and crank it up full, then go out.
#7
Well the volume on mine could be double what theirs is lol, I turned mine off after a hour of blaring loud, and they put their volume down a small bit, i can hear them laughing like idiots now. They must think they have won.
#8
Well what i did was turn all speakers face down on the floor and set bass to high and volume to half(still could hear theirs though)

Sadly, asking them nicely didn't help. I had a 3 year old, then got pregnant and the stress of them was seriously getting to me. When the baby came along she and my son were kept awaking with the screaming, arguments and music.

Luckily she got pregnant, and my speakers against the wall got to her in the end, they moved pretty quick once the baby came.

Peace at last.

You have to do it in the day when they are trying to sleep off the drugs.

Sadly this is really common, I have a few friends who have had the same problem. It's not just flats either, mine was a house.

Where I live now though, the next door neighbours always seem to do diy after 9pm. Hammering last night, drilling the night before. They have all weekend to do it, one is also at home all day.

I feel like getting a large piece of wood and putting it against the wall and drilling into it a 3am.

Unless your willing to put up a possible physical fight with this persons numerous friends etc, I wouldn't try to confront or pi$$ off your neighbours.
#12
Had the same thing, with idiots who would play loud music till 6am. There are noise protection laws nowadays though, and the local council has an all-night noise measurement line who came out and sorted things. If they'd had to call again, next step was a fine, then the police turn up with them and confiscate their stereos.

If your council doesn't have this, just call the police. The law is pretty strict on this sort of thing nowadays, with a really low db limit on noise after 11pm. You have a right to expect them to sort it.
#13
They did it again, and again, they stopped at 8.30 for an hour, then back on for 15 minutes, then stopped till 15 minutes ago, now so loud I can hear the music and lyrics as loud as if it came from my room, and the neighbour below them has already shouted and swore up at them and hammered at their door to get a lot of swearing and abuse back.

Its gone down a little now enough but still louder than my TV
#14
Can understand why you're completely peed off, I think you'll be best off ringing the council/Enviroment health people who will measure the amount of noise, If warned twice etc, The hi-fi will be confiscated by the police.

I got nightmare/noisy neighbours too!

Italians above me, and druggies/chavs/drunks next door.

(I live in a ground floor flat)

The italians love to shout when they talk...MAMMA MIA!!! :w00t: and also the blokes likes to 'try' and sing...

Next door, I was woken at 4am! The guy was slamming doors, screaming, then decided to blare some drum'n'bass out!!!
I couldn't believe it! I have a 4 yr old daughter too!!

My local council is $hite! We tell them about this....they just say..."Write a diary on what happens" what good is that gonna do!? I want something doing now! Police ain't that good either! :x Im still waiting for them to come out to me after an 10ft pole was put through our window!
#16
Actually I keep seeing them bringing up new stereos, so maybe old ones have been confiscated.
#17
Louder louder, and the councils 24 hour noise line wont pick up

Phoned police station(its 4 minutes walk from house) 5 minutes later heard banging at their door, which got ignored, then again and again louder and now the music has stopped, and I hear a man shouting and a woman crying.

God I can't stand noisy neighbours, it's something i feel really strongly about!! 1 year I lived above a couple who were constantly arguing, music blaring at any time of night and he played guitar so you can imagine the annoyance right through the night! I went down a few times and told him if he didn't pack it in we would be onto the council, he shut up after that. A year before that we lived above a guy who just loved to blare his music out at 4am when he got up for work!! Unbelievable how loud people can have it, sometimes people just don't think. Last summer we had a neighbour at the back of us who played the Kooks album on repeat for 5 hours in his garden till god knows when!! Thank god we moved away from there lol

Have you gone down and had a word with these people? In our area we have the 101 service http://www.101.gov.uk/ do you have that where you are? I feel for you because you shouldn't have to put up with any of it.

There is a great online community here, hope it's some help

any chance u can upload a a recording of the noise u encounter? would give all us a vivid picture of what u are going thru

Some bad news, it wasnt the police who came round earlier to shout at them, i was the other neighbours who couldnt sleep so 20 minutes later they put music full blast again, the police phoned to say there was a huge incident in town but they would come round, but as the music stopped temporarily I said no need. then I went to bed to hear the girl having sex till 7am, then shouting and laughing till lunchtime then music on full blast again, so I only got about 2 hours sleep, and shes back having sex again.

As for the noise, has anyone seen that episode of 2 pints of Lager where Gaz and Donna have noisy neighbours, its just like that, blaring loud music
#23
pictures!!!!!
#24
Well im not bringing out my mobile or camera in front of them, in case they steal it.

Anyway its getting louder and louder and louder again

How come you all live in flats, are you all poor?
#26
omg !!!
#27
You sound like you are getting to the end of your tether.

What about your local councillor?

Also I would keep on complaining via the police as surely if enough complaints are recorded they will have to do something?

Don't give up, you have the right to live your life in peace.

what are you on about lol. Just because you have neighbours below or above you doesn't mean you live in a coucil block or something like that! (not that it matters!) Apartments and flats/maisonettes are pretty expensive around where I live.

They have been fairly quiet over the weekend, music on fairly loud but nowhere near as loud as before and only for an hour or so at a time, and I heard them come in at 3am last night with music, but wasnt that loud.

I know where they get it from though, as their dad came round at 8am and rang every buzzer in building until someone let him in then slammed doors as loud as he could and laughed.

Must run in the family, as he has come back and forth a few times today the same each time.

The people that used to live in the flat downstairs from us were a nightmare - fighting all hours, shouting, loud music and drugged up mates. One night they were making shed loads of noise and off theirs heads. OH went downstairs and knocked the door and asked them to turn it down.

They were nice and did it for about half hour when the pikey's missus returned very drunken from town and whacked the music up full which we ignored. Bout half hour later the blokes all came running up the stairs (randomly in their pants) and started to try and kick in our front door. OH was stood behind the door with a bar from his weights and housemate had a hammer! Fortunately the numpty's GF shouted that she needed some more coke lined up so they all went back downstairs....

Love the new neighbours - especially when he's watching footie - makes me laugh so much.

OMG what a nightmare! :w00t:

Reading all these threads makes me feel guilty for moaning about the ball coming over into our garden (hitting the conservatory, house windows, etc) from the cul-de-sac at the foot of our garden.

There's a film script in here somewhere!!...as suze remarks I feel so fortunate to live in total peace...I just couldn't cope with the sort of neighbours mentioned in this thread and would have to move..whatever the expence.
