The thread dedicated to Londons most famous club.

Sick of hearing about the Tiny Totts impressive trophy cabinet? Tired of hearing about Gareth " Worlds best player " Bale

Why not come in here and talk about all things Arsenal.

***This thread is for real fans only. Deluded fans not welcome***

Arsenal Football Club is a professional English Premier League football club based in North London. One of the most successful clubs in English football, they have won 13 First Division and Premier League titles and 10 FA Cups. They hold the record for the longest uninterrupted period in the English top flight and are the only side to have completed a Premier League season unbeaten.

Derby rivals - Spurs

National Competition - Arsenal - Tottenham Hotspur
Premier League 13 - 2
FA Cup 10 - 8
Football League Cup 2 - 4
Total 25 - 14

Interesting fact - Arsenal have won the league more times at White Hart Lane, than Tottenham Hotspur.

I'm still furious that Abidal and Pedro were not fined or even carded for grabbing the throats of Van Perie and Nasri yet RVP kicks a ball and gets a red card. Referee is a TOOL - I seriously hate that guy. One of the worst referees around even before the match.

RVPs 1st yellow was very soft in the first place.

Van Persie got a YELLOW card for kicking the ball. His first yellow was a silly offence as well.

3 star Arsenal, sounds about right.

Yeah - a yellow card that led onto a red (_;). His first 'offense' if you watch it again wasn't yellow card worthy either. The throat grabbing was far worse yet nothing was done during or post match.
Barcelona got away with a lot and Dani Alves should have been booked many times.

I agree Barcelona was the better team but Arsenal were robbed for a chance and constantly penalized for some reason by the **** of a referee. Maybe they would have still lost with RVP - but I rather that happen then him being sent of for such a stupid reason.

TBF we did well. Only 20 odd mins away from the QF's against what could be the greatest team to ever grace football. Its not as if we played an average italian team.

It's a valid point. Don't argue that.
We lost against Birmingham - who was blamed then? No one.
Don't make it like a scapegoat is need for every lost. Idiot.

Funnily, you WOULD have played an average Italian side, had you not been crap in the group stages. Roma are pretty poor in comparisson to League leaders and 7 times European Cup winners AC Milan.

Ironic that! X)

Even if we accept the argument that Van Persie was harshly sent off, what about the fact that Arsenal did not have a single shot on goal in the whole game? Van Persie was on the pitch for over an hour before the sending off.

But why the shocking performance? Why the horrendous stagefright on what should have been the greatest showcase for flowing football? Why play like so many teams Arsenal moan about who come to the Emirates and play negatively?

Address all that and Arsenal may become great. Look for blame elsewhere and you never will. If Wenger had any pride about him he must have winced when Guardiola responded to his "Thank the ref" taunt after the match with "they never strung more than 3 passes together".

To beat Barca you have to stop them playing their game which is pass you to death and pick out the killer ball. Arsenals defence is poor compared to teams that do well at the Nou Camp like Chelsea and Inter who both have strong defences.

I wouldnt say poor. Just couldnt hold out anymore. 20 mins left and we were still winning. Inter played 2 lines of defenders. That game was horrific for any football fan. We probably shouldnt have tried to play the way we did and tried to hold on. We only know one way to play and im happy that way.

Look, Barcelona scored 2 goals before the sending off and 2 after. Barcelona dominated before the sending off, they dominated after. Arsenal had no shots on goal before the sending off and zero after. Aresnal played the majority of the game with 11 men.

Serious question, do you gooners still back Wenger 100% and doest it matter if you don't win anything this season as long as you are playing the beautiful game, will you be happy?

Without going into the this 'crop of players are getting better and will be successful' debate how many more trophyless years will you endure?

No Arsenal hate intended (I actually admire their phylosophy) just curious as to how long you would give Wenger?

So what you're saying is that Wenger can't adapt his tactics to match up against the opposition in the same way that Mourinho did.

Or you're saying he's too stubborn/proud to?

We will win a trophy. Be it this year or in another 5, Wenger provides us with entertaining football. At least we are consistently near most trophys every season.

I joined this a bit late, but I sitll back Wenger and our clubs set up. I do believe trophies will come once again, maybe even this season still. I do feel we have no excuses about the game this week, we were well and truely outplayed and outclassed. There are still valid points about the silly sending off, how their players got away with putting hands on RVP and Nasri etc...but needless to say the stats do suggest we would have been lucky to have won IF RVP had stayed on and we had held out. I do find it funny that other supporters seem to think 5/6 years without a trophy makes our team any worse off. I mean if we looked at the length of time it took spurs to even make the champs league or the 10+ years it took them to finally beat us, and the 10+ years between there last two trophies I for one am quite happy. We will come good eventually and the financial stability the club provides means we have and always will be one of the best teams in the prem.

bring on united! despite the last 3 results we are still playing better than united and the spirit and belief looks stronger. i fancy our chances at old trafford. im even that we will win the league this season as we are the strongest performing team in the league at the moment. if we keep it up, united have no chance.

So if it stretches to another 5 years before you win a trophy you are happy until then watching the style of football currently being played and getting to the latter stages of most competitions?

Wenger is stubborn. He only has one way and thats to attack. He doesnt have the defence tactics in his locker like Jose. Most fans are happy with trying to outscore teams. It doesnt work all the time, but its damn exciting.
