Fabregas or Xavi? Xavi.

Hopefully the game delivers how much it promises.
#2
Fabregas is a good player, but hes not on Xavi's level, maybe one day but not now, tbh I reckon Iniesta is the best player out of the lot of them
#3
Can't see anything but Barca progressing from this tie. Will be close tonight though.
#4
oh yeah I'd be very surpised if Arsenal went through to the next round, they have a decent team but not a great team by any means
#5
Don't think Fabregas will play, I thought Xavi was doubtful too.

Really hard to call this game without Iniesta and maybe Xavi Arseanl could really beat Barca quite comfortably.

Could be an Arsenal win, a boring stalemate draw or a Barca demolition, can't make my mind up on this one.
#6
Thing is I'm an Arsenal fan but I'm not worried if we do loose because it wont be luck or anything, just pure football. And tbh I'm quite confident, I dont think we would have beat man u bayern or inter anyway at this stage. Barca is our best chance and if we do beat them the confidence that the team will have after it will be phenomenal! Might even win the competition

No, I don't agree. Firstly with regards to the Iniesta point even Barca fans have admitted he's been poor this season so I don't know about overall but definitely looking at this season's form Xavi and Cesc have been better. As for Xavi being better than Cesc, he might be but I think that's only down to experience. Tbh I think we have a better chance than many give us credit for but we are playing the world champions so it's understandable if we do get knocked out. Whoever progresses out of this tie though I think will win the Champions League, especially if United do get knocked out by Bayern.

Cesc and Xavi will most likely be playing. Xavi should definitely be playing and Cesc will be assessed before kick-off but hopefully he will be fine, and although he'd be a loss Nasri showed against Porto that he can also play that role very well. And yeah I can't guess what's going to happen either, it's unusual for both teams to come up against a team that plays with a similar style.

0 - 0. Like the Liverpool v Man C game everyone was going on about before it turned into a dull stalemate.

I am quitly confident Arsenal can produce the goods tonight and hold out in Spain. As long as we don't have to face United at any point, I can see us winning the competition.

Hope Sol doesn't play, he will be run ragged!!

Gallas should be fit :-D Ibrahimovich has just hit form though, and Messi is always in form so Clichy needs to have a good game and maybe think about staying back rather than joining attacks all the time as usual.
#14
Fabregas is the better player, just not as consistant as xavi in my opinion. I think as said on paper tonights game should be a cracking goal fest.........so 0-0 it is.

im a spurs fan Btw but still want arsenal to win, cant bloody stand foriegn teams, cheating diving whingers!!

P.S. anyone know the odds for a Spurs v Arsenal final next season?:w00t:

WHAT?!!? My cousin lives in Barcelona and all the fans have done this year have raved about Messi and Iniesta (espicaly since Ibrahimovic's slump in form). Secondly, even if Iniesta did have a poor season he would still be a better player than Cesc. Come back when Cesc has actually won something, and dont forget Cesc gas had a lot of first team experience for his age, hes been a regular since 16

Lol and what about Iniesta? He's been in Barca's team since he was a teenager. Cesc has more goals and assists this season than both Xavi and Iniesta and his overall play has improved drastically. What Iniesta and Xavi do have over him is experience but I don't think there's that much difference. And Iniesta has been pretty poor, during Ibrahimovich's slump Iniesta didn't do much and everything fell on Messi, lucky for them he was good enough to carry the team. And also what does winning anything have to do with who's a better player? Even pub rubbish like John O'Shea have won more than some of the world's top players, doesn't mean he's a top player.

I wasnt pointing to Iniesta's lack of experience, like u do with cesc. Iniesta has not been in poor form, and if you think Messi carrys the team you dont much about footy, he is allowed to play because of Iniesta and Xavi and the way they play and pass.

What does winning have anything to do with it? Everything. Iniesta and Xavi are two times Champs League winners, have won the league and spanish cups a good few times, and were the starters (ahead of Cesc) when Spain won the Euros. "Rubbish" players win medals because they do a job in the team, not every player is there to score 30 a season and grab the headlines

Dont get me wrong Cesc is a good player, but the way arsenal fans make him out to be the best midfeilder in the world is infuriating!

Ill agree with Liverpool this year without playing like a team, but your sounding like another bitter Arsenal fan.

I hope you win tonight.

I'm routing for a british champions league final.

If you loose though I will await the Wenger blame game.

Messi at one point a few weeks ago had scored 9 consecutive goals for Barca in the league, it wasn't until Ibrahimovich's penalty that Messi won that someone else scored. Xavi's been out with injury recently and Iniesta hadn't been playing well, but they are both class players so it's a boost that Iniesta's out.

And one day Cesc will be the best midfielder in the world, whether that will be while he's at Arsenal or Barcelona I don't know. In fact, I can't think of another midfielder that has played as well as Fabregas throughout this season.

Can you just get back to focusing on your huge game against Benfica ffs, they're a bit better than teams like Wigan and Portsmouth who you've lost to this season.

can you focus on the European Cups in your cabinet? We've beaten the best there is when we put the 5 cups in our trophy

Yeah, ok this thread isn't to discuss how Liverpool used to be dominant over 20 years ago and how poor they are now in comparison.

As for tonight im hoping for:

------------------Almunia------------------
Sagna--Gallas--Vermaelen--Clichy
------------------Song----------------------
------------Cesc-------Diaby-------------
Nasri-----------------------------Arshavin
-----------------Bendtner------------------

You can't even really pinpoint someone that will be key, because everyone will have to play well. In terms of technical ability though, we are just as good as them and both teams look to keep possession so maybe the midfield will be very important, if Song and Diaby can stop Xavi and Keita/Toure and stop the supply to Messi we could do well. We know that last season, definitely away, Chelsea just put 10 men behind the ball and looked to nullify any of Barca's threat but I don't think we'll do that.

i hope barcelona thump them

Partially agree with the above line up I would swap eboue for sagna as he's playing much better atm.... and I would start Rosicky over arshavin or bedtner not sure who though as we need a strike and one of them would have to go. Nasri is in fine form so if we dont have fabbers its a big loss but not huge. we do need Diaby, song, verm, and Gallas to be at the top of their games tonight

Eboue is better offensively but defensively Sagna is definitely better, which is why Wenger will go with Sagna. Also Bendtner has to play as we need a focal point for the attacks, but Arshavin has looked very off form recently and Rosicky is better at tracking back as well, and it is Messi that plays down that side. However, Arshavin can score a goal out of nothing and even in games where he plays poorly he has the potential to hit 4 goals so Wenger will probably go for him although I wouldn't be shocked if Rosicky did start.

Our record in Europe since 2005 is far superior to yours!:) We've actually knocked out Barca a couple of seasons ago and beat them at the Nou Camp in the process

Liverpool have one bad season and suddenly people think they havnt been contesting for anything in years
