Dunno what i do here!

ive been to my old grans how and realised she done a shop.

I seen she had bought jaffa cakes, looked closer and seen £2 stickers on one end of the box (holding it shut)

Upon opening them i see they have been half eaten!

Shes quite old so didnt realize this, should i -

A - take back peacefully

B - ask to speak to the manager and kick up a stink

Try to be tactful first, see how it goes. Ask for money back and replacement.

i think b, its just the fact the people who have done it, obv staff have decided to shelve them hoping sumone would buy and shes done it.

CS will just give refund and apology...wont go further whereas Manager will sort it and hopes give you freebies, obvo be nice to him, but make him realise whats going on, who did it, who it affects etc

I think you're being rather naive here.

Asda would never consciously do such a thing - it only brings them grief - would it really be worth it over half a pack of Jaffa Cakes - I mean, come on! :lol:

whether you use A or B the result will probably be the same-replacement+refund and a gift voucher for your hassle-how much the voucher is for really depends on the customer services manager at the time but this is standard practice.

CS will give you a refund, apology and a gift card (probably £2) as a way to say sorry.

you know what...my ASDA NEVER gives the £2 gift card...yet all other ASDA's do...is this the standard CS thing to do? if so I'm gonna ask for it next time

bought a toastie maker out big w when they were in business.
opened it up to make a toastie and it had burnt cheese all over the inside of it lol

A - probs some little chavs eating them in the store and stuck a sticker back on, and someone thought they were full and put em back. Simple mistake

I definitely would, along the lines of "do you think it's acceptable to [insert appropriate error]"

I was overcharged for a DS Lite accessory pack. Not only did they refund the difference but I got a gift card too. The kit was only a fiver so it cost me £3 in the end.

Never mind the monmey! This is a health and safety issue! A vulnerable old lady could have caught a nasty disease through eating those Jaffas.

FIRST report it to your local Public Health Authority (try Yell.com) - but PLEASE - do not let this pass unreported. In case you are wondering, I worked for my local health authority for 14 years, and one of our biggest problems was that the public did not make official complaints often enough. You will be treated with sympathy and tact (if you aren't - go and see a solicitor) and will be advised as to what to do.

Take it back if you must, and by all means be polite - but be FORCEFUL! INSIST on seeing the manager and NOBODY else!

Good luck with this.
