ASDA didnt take money ..

Earlier on this morning i did a shop with ASDA online for around £80. Got the confirmation email saying thanks and order has been confirmed with delivery etc and got on with my day.

Went into town and checked my balance and withdrew what was left as i done a spot of x-mas shopping.. on the way home it clicked ASDA hadnt taken the money!

any clues as to what is going to happen now? they have confirmed order and usually take the money instantly :S

you will go overdrawn...they will take it later.

Having worked for the home delivery side in the past they only take the money once your order has been put together in store and delivered incase of price changes, out of stocks, promotions etc.

If there is not enough money in your account to cover the full amount then the order will be cancelled (obviously unless you have an overdraft)

I thought they didn't take the full amount until your shopping goes out for/gets delivered?
#4
You're going to have an unarranged overdraft and will incur charges.

Ahhh, i see. i know previously they had definitely taken the money out almost instantly. guess thats my shopping cancelled then!

some banks reserve the money ' pending ' to come out, so you may be lucky and the balance available to withdraw was after the £80 was reserved ! .......if that makes any sense , lol

when there was the Asda glitch on here a while back and everyone got honoured £75 off shopping , thats what happened i had £4 odd pending to come out and then once you accept del they then take the amount pending

The amount would have been reserved in your back account as obviously the amount is subject to change as i said but payment wouldnt be taken untill delivery.

Strangely some cash machines such as link machines dont update with this information so you can find yourself looking at an untrue balance on screen.

If the funds arent there then asda will cancel it themselves!

That's not how normal bank accounts work.

Depends actually because most orders are put together before then! Most are done the day before, hence the 5pm limit the previous day on changes to your order. Just try it and hope for the best.

I have had sainsburys turn up once before with the shopping when the card hadnt worked (bank froze the card because of possible fraud!) and they asked if I had another card I could use. Said they always did that to give the customer a second chance since its picked anyway when they realise, and normally the customer can pay in one way or another when they turn up

So maybe asda would give you a second chance anyway and ask if you got an alternative way of paying.

Drivers arent allowed to handle cash mate! Plus there would be no way of processing it as obviously your order is put through a different system and not a till.

Read the asda t&cs. Somewhere I read it said that they do a test transaction with your bank the night before delivery (basically checking funds are available - they don't do this if you use a credit card), then if it's ok proceed with the delivery. If that transaction fails they'll cancel your order. I fI was you though, and there's still time, either cancel the order or ensure funds are available, your bank may still make a charge for a failed debit. The cut off for amending cancelling orders IS 10pm the night before delivery.

Thats ok, surely you can still make changes to your order? Change the delivery date to thursday and because they dont take the money untill the day of delivery you will have tomorrow to put the money back in your account.
