ASDA Home Delivery - scam

Had groceries delivered from ASDA yesterday, luckily I checked the final price on the list the driver handed to me as the price had almost doubled from the quoted price at the time of ordering.

ASDA should not be allowed to display special offers online then not honour that price when delivered, I'm a bit of a special offer shopper OOOh pizza for £1? I'll have 3. When these turned up they were £3 each, this is just one example.

Tesco have dates on their special offers online so if you put something in your basket and your delivery date is outside the offer range it will be added at full price <<< fair!

What's the point of adding prices if that's not what they're going to charge? May as well just leave out prices and put Final Total: Whatever we shaft you for.

Total and utter scam.

Thing is you agreed to the t & cs, which if im not mistaken state 'you will be charged the price in store on the day of you're delivery'

Tbf it wouldn't be too much hassle or cost to them to charge you what the price was when you ordered, but then people would moan if the price decreased on the day of delivery, they can't really win

I have been in touch with them by email the response was basically..tough.

They can win, they can do what I stated in the opening post which is to implement the Tesco system of a date range for special offers. Not hard.

Same thing happened to me, have not used asda again, tesco system is better, clearer and fairer.

What a scam. Just a trick to get you in your car, so you need to buy petrol while you're there.

Asda are rubbish for online shopping they never have the stuff in a time of order, staff are lazy at picking. I've complained a few times and gotten money back. Most of the time there quick to respond, but they never improve, I moved across to Tescos, who are pretty faultless round here and when they do overcharge are quick to sort.

Ha! I love the way you think you are being clever! What use is a "valid from" date? The "valid to" is what is required.

You say "the offers ends when they are taken off the site!", well that is clearly the case, the problem arises when they are taken off the site inbetween ordering and delivery. It's equivalent to picking up something off the shelf and getting charged double at the till when the staff tell you that the offer expired while you were walking to the till.

I have been in touch with ASDA both via email and phone regarding their pricing but there is very little you can do with a company that size and my complaint regarding unclear pricing will never get further than the call centre staff trained to read from cue cards. So this is my little protest. I fail to see how anyone could think ASDA are operating honourably here and I'd question whether it's even within the law.

Hey fungus, I would suggest contacting Trading Standards as suggested earlier and you could always contact Watchdog on the BBC, they may bring in ASDA for an interview on-air if others have also complained. Hope you get it sorted out, as the offers and deals are clearly misleading, if I was in your shoes I would also be p****d off, so I don't blame you.

i shop at m&s and sainsburys usually, tesco online occasionally which is how i know they have valid until on their offers

I think you should take your own advice, how about going to asda online now and checking 22pk of walkers, price states 1 for £4.37 or 2 for £5...kindly point out where on that page it states a deal expiry date.

It seems obvious that they would but they simply don't.

(Just to clear up the issue of people telling me to email/phone them, I am not out of pocket (assuming the refund comes through), I am merely putting this up here to try and bring some attention to the issue, if even 1 person reads this and shops elsewhere then job done.)

And yes, my order came with squashed to a pulp strawberries with strawberry juice over everything, the wrong shampoo which was also over everything and broken eggs which again were all over everything,

If the order came that bad why didnt you just give the items back to the driver and tell him they were incorrect so he can refund them there and then!.

Also if you call afterwards they always refund the damaged items and let you keep them as well as the incorrect shampoo.

food orders are future dated. Of course if I placed an order and had it delivered the same day I would expect the same price, but not for future dated pricing orders. I can't fathom the determination to have a go at asda when they have stuck to their T&Cs! :)

I can't fathom the determination to stand up for asda! I am going elsewhere, I've already stated I'm not shopping there again.

If you bought yourself a new SSD from ebuyer for £65 and when it turned up they had charged you £130 claiming that the offer ended the day after you ordered it, would you be so blasé about it?

food orders are future dated. Of course if I placed an order and had it delivered the same day I would expect the same price, but not for future dated pricing orders. I can't fathom the determination to have a go at asda when they have stuck to their T&Cs! :)


Fine, we'll leave it at you thinking it's ok for asda to entice you into buying with a low price on their website then without warning double it when it gets to your door and me not thinking that's ok. Don't particularly want to argue about the subject.

at least we can now all agree this thread was completely pointless ;)

clearly states online what date the offers end if you bothered to check

having said that, asda are far and away the worst one for delivery all of all items. Never had a full order delivered yet which sort of negates any benefits of online ordering if you still have to go to a store

I think you should take your own advice, how about going to asda online now and checking 22pk of walkers, price states 1 for £4.37 or 2 for £5...kindly point out where on that page it states a deal expiry date.

It seems obvious that they would but they simply don't.

(Just to clear up the issue of people telling me to email/phone them, I am not out of pocket (assuming the refund comes through), I am merely putting this up here to try and bring some attention to the issue, if even 1 person reads this and shops elsewhere then job done.)

And yes, my order came with squashed to a pulp strawberries with strawberry juice over everything, the wrong shampoo which was also over everything and broken eggs which again were all over everything,


Just check your order online on the day of delivery before they deliver and verify against the last time you checked out then. Takes seconds to spot any price changes. Personally I prefer Asdas approach of not setting end dates for offers rather than time limited ones that tesco do

They are time limited, they just don't tell you the timeframe.

The issue isn't whether they refunded the items, I have no problem on that side of things. It's that they shouldn't be quoting you one price then turning up at your door with a massively inflated new price. (small differences for weighed produce is obviously fine)

I'm currently off work after an operation and it's very difficult for me to walk so the walk to the nearest supermarket to get the replacements wasn't appreciated.


Why didnt you just order the replacements from Tesco home delivery so you didn't have to go out then, meet the minimum, then when it got delivered start a new thread on here complaining about that order!!!!

If you disagree with any items on the asda shop you can speak with the driver at all times and they will be refunded, they will even do this on the phone, so are you saying you didn't get any money back for the damaged items etc? If so I don't believe it.
