I need to create an ASP server so I can build a website.

Does anyone with any technical knowledge know if I can create one on Vista, as I think you can on such OS's as Windows 2000?

Thanks

If it can't be done on Vista, does anyone know how to do it on XP?

you need windows server or use a linux server and download the asp add on for apache .......

thats the best option as a a windows server is expensive & carp

download apache, mysql through Xampp (here )

then download the asp add on for apache here

I've done the website in an external organisation and need to re-code some bits from home.

If I bought Visual Studio 2005 for XP, would that then run ASP pages as I've just read on the internet that it has a built in ASP server??

it won't be a asp server but should be able to display the pages...... you need server software to run a server

as said above the best way (for free ) is to install apache and install the mod for asp .......... apache can be ran off a normal pc (runs on mine)
i use it to test my sites before i upload them

vista supports asp.net natively, you just need to turn on IIS (under add remove windows features in programs applet [quickest way is to hit the windows key, type appwiz.cpl and hit enter])...
