Assault Claims Question.....needing advice please before i sign :)

Ok i was assaulted just after new year and it was reported to the police, etc...but as there wasnt any witnesses they person wasnt charged!

I have called up AC UK and they told me i can still file for compensation even though the guy wasnt charged!
i went to the hospital and still have scarring to my lip (which was severely burst), i have a crime ref number etc etc

ok the question is:
is there any better (cheaper %)companies out there with a more less charge than this company im about to use, AC UK have a no win no fee also!
charges are as follows:
If i recieve under £3000 ACUK charge 33%
If i receive between £3000 and £15000 they charge 25%
and if i receive (i wish) more than £15000 they wont charge me!

Is there any more better ones out there before i sign these papers?

thanks anyone that can help :)

Do you h ave home insurance with legal cover? Or union membership? Either of those would provide cheap legal advice,

Do you have household insurance? If so, read your policy as you may well have 'Third Party' Cover included (I think it's called that), which covers you for making a claim against a third party. We sued our local council a while back and initially considered a no-win no-fee company but our solicitor took the case on and his fees were paid by our insurance company (covered up to a limit of £50,000). This way any money you win is all yours and the legal fees cost you nothing.

you don't have to go wth a third party "broker"

contact the criminal injuries compensation authority

address is (i believe) bath house, 300 tay road glasgow

they will assess your claim - it doesn't necessarily have to have been that someone was charged - after all, some people get assaulted, knocked out and never know who their attacker was

CICA will assess your claim on a balanced basis - however, if you have a string of convictions etc the likelihood is your claim may not succeed.

tel number is 0800 358 3601 - it seems you need to ring them for a form or you can do it online

plus, CICA (and therefore the other third party companies) follow a strict table r severity of injury

i imagine yours may be level 2 = £1250 (level 1 is £1000, level 2 is £1250 and so on - if you don't meet level one you get nowt)

You can claim yourself through the Criminal Injuries comensation syastem.
And for the ignorant among us.
Compensation is not money for nothing..
I would explain but you probably wouldn't understand.

He was assaulted - Most of us don't deserve it, and don't earn the beating. If he's entitled to compensation, good on him, I'd do exactly the same. Getting some good out of a time so bad.

What's worse is thinking it's ok to shell out millions on immigrants* and wasters who don't contribute to society.

* Not all immigrants don't contribute, and was not meant to be a sweeping generalisation in that respect.

I hope your claim is successful OP.

I don't think individuals should be able to claim compensation for this kind of experience. Our country is becoming more and more a sue-happy culture. People should earn the money they receive.

However that's my opinion, and I wish OP the best of luck in all he decides to do.

Correct info'.

But remember, it has to be in the Public Interest to award you money, could be a big stumbling block with a minor injury, like a burst lip?

Different if you lost a leg!!
