Surprisingly done a search and noticed that no one has ever posted it so ahh well.

Anyway Avast Antivirus completly free, very easy to use updates all the time and all that you have to do is,

1. Goto Avast.com
2. Goto Download then Select Programs
3. Select Avast 4 Home Edition which is free.
4. Scroll Down and select the mirror download site and download will automatically
5. When setting it up enter your email address as they will email your serial key so you can update, as it only comes with a 1 month key normally but when serial is entered it will go up a year or 2.

(you can skip points 1,2 and 3 if you use direct link)
Well thats it, they update all the time and won several awards, they would rather you would use the home edition for your personal computers as they don't like people using companys using the free version as then they make no money.

Been using this for years now and never had a virus! Updates regularly and seems very stable. Would also recommend installing spybot search and destroy (also free) which will block trojans, etc. Voted hot!

I've been using Avast for several years too, on several machines, and it's never failed me yet either.

Friends and family often buy new machines, and they always come pre-installed with the devils-own Norton. I always remove it for them, and replace it with Avast.

Moved to misc... we do not allow downloads as freebies.

Avast and AVG have been posted numerous times before...personally I'd pay money not to have Macafee installed on my machine, I find it and the consumer versions of Nortn to be a pain in the neck.

i have always used AVG after being woken at 3am one morning by my pc screaming at me that it had found a virus. and it would crash often, so i learned to leave my speakers switched off and replace avast with AVG. was much better after that.
#11
better for it to let you know that you had a virus than just tell you nothing, whyd you replace it when you could have simply just turned off speakers lol
