Hi There
Can you get someone to download the AVG installer ? If so download it for them and then run the installer - at about the 3rd menu it will pick up that AVG is in the registry and will then ask if you want to repair etc - one of them is uninstall and this should cleanly remove it

AVG Remover :
AVG Remover utility removes all parts of AVG installation on your computer, including registry items, installation and user files on your disk, etc. AVG Remover is the least option to be used in case the AVG uninstallation / repair installation process has failed repeatedly.

As Sassie has said, CCleaner is also very good & free - run the registry option to clear out anything left behind when a program is uninstalled/updated etc.
just says the same not sure where to go now..

to currys or somewhere to buy a new computer....:-D
no luck seem like windows explorer stopped working any help appreciated thank you all..
You could try to do a system restore, if it works I would download the programs mentioned above and save to a memory stick, then try the uninstall again, if the same happens you have programs ready to use. Although if you use the AVG remover it should save you any hassle.
The PC is hijacked, you're pretty screwed.... sorry

best bet is to put the HD on a working PC as a slave and then sweep it with a multiple of virus programmes.
