B&Q Half Price Bathroom Kitchen Installations

This is a warning about a current offer. B&Q are advertising 1/2 price kitchens and bathrooms, including installations.
In November we got a quote for a new bathroom including the installation. It was quite expensive, so we decided to wait until the new year. Now B&Q are heavily promoting everything as half price. The units are often on promotion but this offer includes the installation - which on our quote, which is typical, is most of the cost. So we went back in to get re-quoted.
The new price is about the same as the original.
I obviously queried this with the salesman. He asked me when our original quote was - November. He then said, oh that explains it, we doubled our prices before Christmas so we could do the half price offer in the new year, you are not the first to complain.
Do you want your kitchen / bathroom installed by people who operate like this?
Beware.

No its not, you'd better check your sources.
The higher prices were offered for 28 days.
Totally Legal
This practice is done by most/all large companies

Agreed. An awful lot of sale stock is bought in and sold in this way.

Totally agree, my husband installs kitchens/bathrooms for B&Q, (he by the way works for his dad, they were employed by B&Q to do the installations, this is on top of their own work) the installers for B&Q have to take a 5% cut in their wages to cover the 1/2 installations and B&Q cover the rest, the sale is genuine, but i must say for the life of me i wouldn't buy either from B&Q as they are too expensive sale or no sale and their stuff is'nt that good, DONT blame the installers. :)

Yep, my ex Wiff works for them and told me B&Q Raised the price of all Kitchens, bathrooms and fitting just a few weeks before the sale in order to make the deals appear better than they actually are.

DISGUSTING ! But sadly very very true.:whistling:

Shouldn't this be in the "Misc" section?
