Baby Keepsakes - Decent Website?

Hi all I was wondering if anyone can recommend a site for unusual baby keepsakes, I like the clay foot/handprints you can buy but most of them look quite tacky.... except of course the £200 John Lewis ones..

Also can you recommend anything which is a nice/unusual keepsake.

Many thanks.

My friend is quite crafty and makes a lot of items herself, you just need to think of the ideas and what memories/keepsakes you want to make a record of.

She made a template and then made patches from all of Poppy's baby clothes, then sewed them into a blanket. Cost nothing as she only used clothes which Poppy had grown out of, and now every time she looks at the blanket she can remember certain events or trips out etc, etc.

Scrapbooking is a lovely hobby, keep things important to you and baby and stick them in a book and decorate.

Local artists or sculptors may be able to create more unique pieces of much better quality than DIY kits and not much more expensive.

I'm an artist, and I use alginate and plaster to make impressions. It can be relatively cheap, and the results are great.

Plasters like Crystacal R are very smooth and detailed, set rock hard and have a pure white pigment.

The plaster sets do come accros as touch tacky, but i did my daughters feet in them at a week old, they are tiny, but i look at them and smile every time i see them, they are a beautiful and a lovely reminder of a very tender time in our lives

My John Lewis one i think was around £60ish for just my daughters hand print, expensive but well worth it. I also love these http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/search?term=fingerprint

Thank you all for your comments, it's for my 12 day old daughter I think i may invest with John Lewis but I also like the crystal & engraved ideas from mrtootough and Benjiboo1, I also really like the idea from storysacks as there are some little clothes me and my wife both love.

The 100 year diary in there is so adorable, I wish I'd had something like that, I may well start it now, I've only got 24 years to try and remember,.... lol

Got one of these for our friends for Christmas. I liked the idea of it anyway :)
