Backing up DVD's

Hi, just bought a few DVD's and would like to know if there was a way to get them onto my pc to back them up as I've had to throw a few away recently, once the little uns get hold of them.
I know how to do this for music cds but can't seem to find a way for DVDs. Also I have a DVD recorder, if anybody knows a way of doing this direct through that and another DVD player.

Thanks

You have a few options, you can back them up onto your PC and let them take up the full size of the original DVD (or near enough) or convert them to a format such as DIVX which is a compressed format. DIVX is to DVD formats as MP3 is to CD format.

How do i get them onto the pc to begin with? Usually use Windows Media Player to Rip music, or I also have Power2Go

They are encrypted, so you can't just use a simple programme but one that avoids the encryption. Search on google for software to rip dvds.

Obviously you'll need something like AnyDVD to remove the copyright protection first of all.

loads of AnyDVD (program) torrents about if your able to go via that route.

Power2Go would work for backing up a DVD.

Then there's the issue of dual layer DVDs...

Get hold of dvdshrink from http://www.dvdshrink.org/

DVDshrink if you want to mess with them (e.g. DVD9 on to a regular DVDR).

DVDdecrypter for 1:1 copies.

AnyDVD in the background to defeat any nastier DRM they might have on.

Thanks everyone, for your help. Much appreciated. I have managed to back one up after downloading DVD Shrink.
