Bad experience with city link

I know eBuyer deals are banned, but i'm sure horror stories aren't. Well this hasn't turned into a complete horror movie but it's looking that way.

I purchased the Htachi Deskstar 1TB Hard Drive (now i know why they call it deathstar, because you get so unlucky with buying it) from eBuyer and i paid £10 for the next day delivery.

I REALLY need this hard drive as my current is full and i need to balance my data out. Anyway, that's beside the point. I paid for next day delivery and expected it this morning.

I opened my front door only to find a card saying 'we called to deliver your parcel'. And that was it. He'd ALLEDGEDLY knocked on the door and left a card. No attempt to deliver to a neighbours house on the off chance i had genuinely missed the delivery. No nothing.

I paid £10 and didn't recieve the item (and i can assure you, if he knocked on my door, it must have been the most gentle knock ever) and even so, there was no attempt to leave it with a neighbour.

I phoned up eBuyer and explained i had booked a day off work because i needed this item and the lady was actually very helpful, she phoned CityLink, but Citylink said the guy delivering the goods didnt have his mobile phone on him so there was no way of contacting him. They've sent him a text message to another known mobile he has saying to attempt delivery this afternoon.

So i'm in limbo at the moment. will i or will i not get the item?

Citylink are a bit of a joke if you ask me.

Thats not really ebuyers fault then is it?

If there is a card, he was obviously there, I don't see why hed come to your door, write out a card etc and walk off just for laughs.

Were you not in the loo or shower or anything all morning?

Plus did you state it could be delivered to a neighbour? They need your permission for that. I would hit the roof if any of my purchases were handed to my neighbours, scum ridden people.

What's this got to do with E buyer?
So the driver sneaked up to your door just to not deliver?
#3
More than likely you will be waiting till tomorrow.
but you should get onto eBuyer and they may refund you.
#4
sounds like a horror story about citylink tbh..doesnt seem like ebuyer have done much wrong..
#5
Wouldnt exactly say this was a "horror story"??

Had a better one than that with the Book People. The courier delivered to a neighbour when I was in fact in the house. However they didnt leave a note at my house to say they had left with a neighbour.

2 days later , I contacted them , they did a trace and I found which one of the 30 people on my street the parcel was with. And no , the neighbour didnt pop it down to me as "it was heavy".

So it could have been worse

i'd change your title to citylink horror story as it doesn't seem as if ebuyer have actually done aanything wrong, in fact quite the opposite. Even then I think horror story is pushing it a little.

haha! sorry to hear about that one

EDIT::

Im not really blaming eBuyer for anything, im just saying it's related to them. eBuyer were fine, it's just the fact citylink didn't leave it with someone else considering i paid for next day delivery

I've been buying from eBuyer since they started in 2000ish lol and had a few problems with products etc but got them returned and sorted, just the time taken and expenses on postage etc was a big hasstle. Apart from that I've had a good experience. BTW City Link drivers have a rep for being lazy, most of them want to finish their shift so they dump these notes through and run, best way is to be patient or organise something with your next door neighbours.

You say you "opened your front door to find a card" sort of implies you found the card when you came home. There will be a phone number on the card contact Citylink - its not ebuyers fault

then you'd run the risk of being on here with the thread title "ebuyer gave away my hard drive to a neighbour but they deny they've got it, help needed"

Why are ebuyer deals not allowed?

Whenever I have something that I really really need ASAP and that driving to the depot for a pickupw ould be extreme hassle, I bluetak a note a note on my front door saying "I'm in, but the doorbell is a bit iffy. If knocking doesn't rouse me, please dial my house number which is 0131blahblah and I'll be as quick as I can. I know this is asking more than you're required to do for me, but if you don't mind doing it, there's a four pack waiting behind this door for you. Cheers, dxx".
#17
That's nothing, you ever used the HDN (home delivery network)?
*shudders*

oh dear me. Don't go there. HDNL are the worst company i've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

I purchased a Sony PS3 a year ago and chased it up why my 'next day delivery' hadn't arrived 3 days later (after i'd booked time off work). I rang the branch in wales and they basically admitted that it will have been stolen by someone in the Manchester depot (or where ever it was coming from)

Disgraceful service, wouldn't use HDNL again
