Has anyone flown with Alitalia before? as im half asleep at mo and cant make it all out

Im flying to egypt but from what i can make out im only allowed 20kgs max??

Can i have 2 suite case with both 20kg or does this mean max for totally suitcases?

One suite case will weigh about 23 KG would they let this pass or would they be strict on this....seems to me 20kg aint much at all , means i cant bring nothing home or nothing :(

Do they usually over look this if im over weight , otherwise if they charge be is it alot?

Not sure how much Alitalia allow you to have, but as a rule.... every kg overweight is charged as 1% of a first class ticket on that flight - so if you're going CAI I would imagine you'd be looking at £15 per kg over (approx). HTH

p.s if your ticket states you can only take 20 kg of checked in luggage, then you wont be able to take on 2 x 20 kg bags !

Try putting heavy items in your hand luggage and try to make it look light !!!

20kg for Economy, 30kg for Business Class.;-)

And 40Kg for first class.

I think if you are travelling to US, then it will be calculate on piece, as far as I remember, you allow to bring 2 pieces for economy class if you are going to United States.

will be a charge if overweight,I recently paid £40 for being 2kg overweight with them.

just have to stomach it I am afraid

I am regularly over the limit with my bags usually because I am lugging exhibition kit around, and 9/10 I don't get charged excess baggage fees.
When checking in be polite, smile and flirt like mad if necessary. Also helps if you dont look like a chav.

why not take the extra 3kg in hand luggage size suitcase and take on board with you , we had this problem once, we went to check in and found our suitcase over weight by 2kg and she was going to charge us nearly £50 , so we opened our syuitcase up , and unpacked a load into carrier bags , and put the suitcase through with 20 kg and had the extra as hand luggage ,
its silly really as the weight still goes on the plane just not in the hold luggage

 Top marks for you !
....also (if you're dressed smartly),always politely ask if there is any chance of an upgrade.
Someone smart will not look out of place in business or first class ;-)

Thanks for everyones advice , i doubt ill use the airlines again , i just tired to do a web check in and its not working , i rang them but they inform me its faulty and i need to ring italy to do a check in.

I ring Italy and then they inform me they can check me in but they cant send me a boarding card by email so they best not do this as boarding card has to be same number.
Also UK number kept getting a fault so rang back tons of times on 0871 number ,grrr.

Ive been upgraded free before but never been with this airlines before so im hoping ill dress smart and hope lol.

Ill do what others suggest and place some items in my cabin case , to be honest i never usually check my suitcase for weight and i didnt know how easy it was to go over 20kg until i got some scales just to see if i was close to 20kgs as i was planning to buy some stuff out there.

I guess if i want anything i best just ship it back
