Bale broken ankle?

Horrible tackle, yet didn't even get a free kick. As a spurs fan i have watched Bale get kicked about in most games this season and it looks like finally someone got there man. I know football is a "mans" game but Bale runs around like he has a bulls eye on his leg.

What sort of punishment do you think will get handed out for this. Thankfully this didn't end as badly as the Ramsey/Eduardo tackles by the looks of things but aslong as takles like this go unpunished, players like Bale might as well retire.

Oh, and i know i'm a spurs fan but im not posting this for some stupid "my club is better than your club" response, mearly peoples opinion on this.

maybe biased too but my opinion is that charlie didnt mean to injure him, he throws himself around the park a lot because he's that kind of player - he picks up a lot of yellows (deservadly) and should have had one for that challenge too, but there isnt any malice there. I reckon intent is needed to make a challenge like that a red - not just recklessness.

Probs going to be shouted down for that but there ya go!
#3
I won't shout you down CReilly you are entitled to your opinion but i think that Adam has intended to 'put one on him' there. Maybe not go the whole hog but certainly meant to hurt Bale. It 's the way he lifted his foot and shoved his studs in, if you only want to get the ball you just stick a toe out.

Bad tackle Red Card Everyday
#6
looks bad but from an arsenal fans point of view things will never change teams will find your best players and do their best to disrupt their game even if it means committing horrible tackles like that one.

Blackpool had been fouling bale for most of the match, it was only a matter of time before he got injured

Pretty nasty stuff.

It's not just Blackpool it's nearly everyone we play. It was worse at Stoke but because Bale has the sense to jump out of the way of most he gets no protection from the refs
banned#10
I hadn't seen the game live, but that was very clearly a red card offence. He made absolutely no attempt to get the ball and went in high with studs showing.

When Blackpool took the lead, part of me was quite happy as it was likely to be the end for West Ham and get round not playing in that awful Europa trophy. Having seen that, I hope Blackpool get relegated.

its not the lack of protection from refs that annoys me, its the fact that teams can persistently foul and never get punished for it,
#13
Either way I hope for a lengthy ban. When you look at the amount of cards Adam has and the amount of fouls conceded it makes you realise it's not a one off.

Like I said in the footie thread, our season ended when we drew against West Brom. In truth, I was going to watch, but couldn't get a line of code when I thought about it. I wasn't that fussed though even though its the first match Ive missed all season.

A Spurs thread that's starting to sound like an Arsenal thread. Whatever next??? ;)X)

I completely agree but I don't know why it takes it to happen to people's teams for them to see that something clearly needs to be done about these tackles. When Shawcross recklessly broke Ramsey's leg last year lots of people, Spurs fans included, came out with the regular rubbish, he didn't mean to break his leg, it was accidental etc not seeing this was beside the point. If players are going to dive in and do these kind of tackles then the FA should be able to increase the bans for the players afterwards if serious damage was done, it's not fair some players can do horrific challenges and end up with only 3 game bans, or in this case no ban at all.

Always going to be difficult to tackle (no pun intended) the issue without affecting the physical element of the sport that, particularly in this country, we're so keen on. It's a delicate balance I feel.

Not really. I haven't called for his head on a plate. Just the hope they now get relegated. X)

I think the major talking point Sy is the fact its clearly an awful tackle, but no red or even yellow card. In fact the ref missed the foul altogether. Though I'll admit its disappointing that teams see the only to stop the player of the year is to kick him up in the air.

I support Sheff Wed but regarding the Ramsey tackle, i definately thought Shawcross went to do him. Think Shawcross was putting bad tackles in before he nailed Ramsey.

Bad tackle from Adam. I think he's just frustrated as he seems to have missed the boat regarding getting a big move, don't think he'll get the big move. Not just from this tackle but because he's been terrible for last 4months. Plus looks very over weight. Maybe not dedicated enough.
Definately a cowards tackle that.

In a way that's good though as i think the ref would have just booked him...........at least this way he can now be punished if the ref claims he didn't see it.

It sure looked nasty though. If it's not broken then i'd have thought at least ligament damage......never good to see.

The tackle is clumsy and wreckless, but I dont think Adam was out to injure him.

A yellow card would suffice. As for Bale, you could probably blow him over and he wriggles about, but on this occasion I wish him the best.

Indeed.

And again, interestingly given the comparison you were making, you will also see the difference from the two managers. Harry concentrated on saying that Bale was in Hospital and scans being down on his swollen ankle and when pushed, he simply described the challenge as clumsy. I suspect he was being diplomatic, but nonetheless I don't believe you'd ever hear those comments from Wenger plus the obligatory blame for the ref to boot.

Bit of a difference there sir, our players leg was literally hanging off, this coming only one season after the injury to Eduardo. Bale's injury is more similar to the horrific injury Diaby suffered in 2007, where his ankle was shattered and he had to miss 9 months as a result, it doesn't look like Bale's is even this severe and hopefully it isn't. I'm fairly certain if teams had the tactics to just go out there and kick Spurs off the pitch most game, and then Harry had 2 of his players' legs snapped in the space of a year or two that he'd give a slightly different response.

Well with the number of injuries we've had this season - including a broken leg, I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

Yes.... and you probably remember one of your ex players deliberately attempting to break Corlukas leg
#28
You're seriously trying to equate Modric's broken leg to either of the 2 I listed? The Flamini one is a better example, and had that broken Corluka's leg as it could've I think Harry would definitely have made comments similar to Wenger's.

Horrific tackle, Looks broke to me, Only Adam will know if he meant it, Hope Bale makes a swift recovery.

This thread is the first I've heard of the tackle.
Isn't the fact that you say the ref didn't see it or take any action a good thing if the tackle is as bad as is being suggested. It means that the FA can take retrospective action and punish it, right?

A broken leg/ankle is still horrific what ever the severity of it is, Usually similar recovery times, Valencia's was worse than Bales but he's recovered very well, Remember Alan Smiths leg break and Henric Larsons Ouch...!!!.

Of course I wasn't comparing the scale of injury, just using the fact we do get broken legs,

Now, on the Corluka incident, there is 100% no way that was anything but intentional. His reaction in baying to the crowd "look what I've done" was pretty conclusive. I don't recall any such reaction to an injury to any Arsenal player by the perpetrator. The injury may not have ended quite as badly, but Harry had no idea when interviewed (just as tonight) just how bad it might be.

OK, there might be some occasions where you are allowed to raise your voice!

Flaminis was a truly awful tackle, but it was his reaction that was the disgrace. Unfortunately he got booked, else he would have seen a healthy retrospective ban.
