bank cancelled my card

went to the bank about 2 weeks ago to order a replacement bank card, due to my card having a slight crack in it (card still worked), nothing appeared, so i went to the bank yesterday to find out if it had been ordered and the postie was on a speeding spree, or it was never ordered. the manager confessed that the card was never ordered and that she was very sorry and that she had order the replacement card for me. to day i discovered that my card was cancelled on the 12th, by the bank but they never ordered the replacement ( i hadnt used the card in over a week). phone them today again to air my disgust at their incompetence, i asked for some compensation, what is the standard compensation for this sort of thing, the last time i complained it was £25 per cock up, is this still the going rate these days?

Yeah, complain big time! I had a similar problem. I lost my bank card and ordered a new one. A week later, nothing. I ordered another, still nothing. I eventually had to open up a credit card because I was fed up of not being able to buy online, borrow money off mates etc when the bank was shut... I whinged at Customer Services and demanded £50 compensation... Got it!!

i guess we arent forceful enough babe :);-)

they charge you for every day you are overdrawn and as many ridiculous charges they can think up when YOU make a genuine error so if thats their culture then why not demand compensation?

you are paying for the service, if they dont do it properly, you can claim compensation. i'm unable to purchase online for christmas presents at the present. the bank offered me a credit card yesterday and today:x. informing me that it was safer to shop online with a credit card for purchases over £100, personally i would rather take the risk rather an face temptation of a credit card.

People need to learn to complain!! I do it all the time when things aren't done when they say they will! For instance, M&S were supposed to be delivering my order on a Friday but it didn't arrive. They said there was nothing they could do and I wouldn't get my stuff until after the weekend, but I kept on and demanded to speak to management. They then said they couldn't send all my stuff to me as they were out of stock! Eventually I got them to courier all the different items from different M&S stores throughout the Midlands, deliver them to me next day, refund me AND give me a £25 voucher!

Na usually tho the bank say tough I had this hassle only last year and was a month without my debit card:x

if you dont ask they wont offer, you were probably entitled to a small fortune for a month without a debit card. dont let them push you around next time:thumbsup:

I was two months without one this year after i canced it after my laptop was stolen (had accounts like play.com already saved in)

They didnt send it until march (Stolen in Jan...)

I just got on with it.. didn't complain or anything, didn't think i'd get anything if I did, or I would've... :?

How much compensation you might get depends on how much they value your custom. If it's LloydsTSB, I wouldn't hold your breath. They tend not to care much unless you pay them lots of interest on your overdraft! ;-)

the last time i had a moan which was about 10 years ago it was £25 for each verified claim,i believe that was a standard amount.it worked out to be £75 in my favour.

I pushed A&L for £100 for a mistake they made, they offered £25. I told them £100 and eventually they agreed!
