I went for that zero priced deal at CPW a couple of days ago - the one a few people said their bank called them about after.

I went shopping today and used cash until I got to Lidl where I intended to get money back from them at the till. So enough shopping to fill two bags - and gave them my card - and it was declined. I knew there was a couple of hundred in it at least - and so asked them to keep the messages while i went to the cash machine to get some money out.

Got to the wall machine and got a message something like "you are not permitted to access this information".

So back to the car to realise my mobile was at home but my niece had her PAYG.

After a three quid phone call, it transpires CPW for a "free" transaction did enough weird things with my account to get it suspended.

Back to Lidl - where they had returned the frozen stuff to the freezers - and paid for the messages with my newly unblocked card.

Then I remembered two years ago after getting another phone from CPW and buying currency - they two were events that triggered the bank to call again too.

So if you do deal with CPW - call your bank after to see if your card sitill works - as it saves wasting an hour ****ing about later.

Does anyone know where the next protest is where you can smash bank windows?

I am sitting here now with a massive craving for garlic bread - which unfortunately they returned to the freezer last night while I went to the bank to get money out fruitlessly.

Heres hoping they receive some more poll tax style protests soon.

You are blaming the banks, it is CPW that you should target your venom at, it is they that allow so many " fraud " transactions through.

I was told by my bank that they ( CPW ) are the most targeted company in the UK for fraudulent transactions, yet they do not use the Verified by Visa etc. systems.

You should thank your bank for caring for your finances.

I am quite happy to blame both!

Although it seems unusual that a transaction priced as "free" should require something to happen to my bank account. And equally so the bank know my number - why did they not call me to express their concerns rather than leave me unable to pay for the messages I bought.

I bet if I had done a fraction of that to them I would be being hit with a £30 charge.

. CPW is so rife with fraud, some banks automatically block the card. You should be pleased really as if they had of just left it and the transaction was fraudulent, then you would of had a lot more hassle.
In this situation the bank can't win either way really.

Agreed...;-)
