Just dont spend it in case they take it back
#2

I think it something like 12 years before you can legally claim the money.

They can remove it from your account at any time, without notice, so in the long run its best to just let them know
#4
yeah i put it in via the cashire

used to work for a bank...dont worry they will adjust it on you account

if you paid into the branch the till wouldnt have balanced, I suspect if you go to the branch now it has already been corrected, presumably it's only a delay on the internet banking - it's not been updated with the adjustment, yet. It happens quite often dont worry.

sounds like the cashier entered an extra 0

Whatever you do, do not spend it.

I wasnt assuming you would, honest. It was just a general comment. You always read on the news people spending money which the bank deposit in their accounts and I cannot understand how they can be so stupid.

You just got £270, what are you complaining about?
#13
not unless someone paid in £270 and never got a credit for it and is never going to notice/complain

as said earlier, if the OP goes to the bak today and gets a statement from the cashier it will show that an adejustment has already been applied. The till wouldnt have balanced yesterday and they cannot close until they balance
#14
Just leave it in there for a while, and see what haapens, if it's still their in a few weeks, keep schtum!

my oh withdrew 5k and when we checked our account it had been put back in but they took it back a couple of days later:cry::cry:

Keep it, remember it's there, don't spend it. If they take it back nothing lost, if they don't £270 gained.

Either way you've not got the hassle of telling them.

They'll be a lot quicker taking money back from you than if it had been the other way... Bandits!

As mine took £35 today, for a bounced 10p ebay charge. I'm closing my account with that bank, Halifax!

They will take it back from you and if you have taken it out of your account and go overdrawn as a result they will charge you, You know it's not your money, they know you know it's not your money and act accordingly. It's not worth it. Been there, done that. It's blooming well tempting though :(

I asked for £10 from an atm before, and for some reason £80 came out. I checked the next day and £80 had been charged out of the account and because of this I was in an overdraft and still ended up getting charged for it even though it wasnt my fault!!!!

It's also theft if you take it knowing it isn't your money, people have been taken to court for it in the past (although for more than £270)

there software will find the error and sort it out.
#25
Don't forget to write them a letter, saying you are going to take a £35 charge out of it. They do it to you! :whistling:
