Paid a cheque into the quick deposit box at a bank last Monday! low and behold they lost the cheque I put in!

they are now just shrugging their shoulders! Get another one from the company! We've lost it! nothing we can do!

I told them they would have charged me with interest left right and centre if I did the reverse! They said sorry! i feel cheated!

Not Bark lays is it, they lost a cheque for £50 from a fleabay sale i deposited, gave me the same spill, i contacted the buyer and explained what had happened, meanwhile they found it and put it into my account without telling me they had and i then cashed the new cheque, first i knew about it was when buyer contacted me to get an explaination why both his cheques had been cashed, all got sorted in the end but vet embarrasing and the bank just says sorry about that.

Did you get a receipt when you paid the cheque in? With my bank (A&L) they've lost a cheque of mine before, but as I had a receipt to prove that I'd deposited one, they credited the money to my account.

yeah i have the envelope butt! but they have lost it, end of story! onus is upon me to sort!

If it's lost, it's lost, just get another Chq?!

What should they do, just credit the money to your account without the Chq?!!

However, they should help until the new Chq arrives, like give you and % free limit of the amount of the Chq until the replacement is credited. Or honour all items until the Chq arrives.

Its the mere cheek of the bank saying " We Cant do anything, no help! You do the running around, you're on your own!"

I dont use cheque deposit boxes for this reason.

If they cannot find the cheque there is little they can do - agree with nadss, dont use the BQD!

One other thing, it takes a 20 second phonecall with your Bank Manager to cancel a cheque - one month to cancel and re riase is far fetched - you need to keep onto the company

i have, they said it could take up to that time! but regardless i am without the money!

Banks are bummers when they want to be!
