BB Messenger problem

My sister bought a second hand bb curve 8900 off of ebay.
and she is on a contract with t-mobile (nothing to do with the blackberry) however she does have web n walk data plan.

The problem is i have tried to add her on bb messenger and it stays pending on my bb, and doesn't even show up on hers, and the other way around..when she tries adding me.

I done a quick google, and am I right in thinking this is becuase she doesn't have a bb data plan?

and the only fix for this is to buy a bb data plan?

She can use the internet with her tmobile web n walk, can this be used for bb messenger?

Thanks, Jooe

I think it is most definetly that she doesnt have a bis. I am with t-mobile sim only plan, and i phoned them up and got bis for £5 a month in a 12 month contract, or was quoted £7.50 a month where you are tied to no contract.

Mobile internet is mobile internet. Has she set up the T Mobile internet settings on it?

i suppose so, she had it on her old phone then just put her sim in the bb, and the web n walk icon is on the menu and you can browse from it, so suppose so right?

She will need to set up a Blackberry Internet Services, that's how messenger works.
That BB is useless if she doesn't have the account and password it has previously been connected to. Don't subscribe to a BIS if she doesn't have this. The hardware is locked to that account. Hopefully the seller gave her the account details.

The settings live on the phone not the sim. She need to call T and get them to text the setting to the phone at the moment it's try to connect through wihich ever network it was on to start with.

The settings will automatically change to Bis once tmobile set her up and add BB service to her account - BB messenger will not work otherwise (nor the app store or BB maps).

I'm on tmobile myself, had a BB 8900 but realised it was all a con as I was paying £35 for line rental + £7.50 for web and walk + £7.50 for BB service! So got rid after 4weeks!

Yes, but you cannot be set up if the account is still registered with the old owner...

The account goes through tmobile not the phone. Give them a call and they will set up & re-register the pin details. The 8900 I bought was 2nd hand also, the previous owners details was plastered all over the phone but tmobile will sort it out. Once they activate it & send you the txt message to notify you that your bis is now activated, you have to complete the set up through the tmobile/bis website on the Internet (from a home computer not the phone).

Would this be the same if you wanted to get a payandgo blackberry and put an o2 sim in it?

thats wat i wanted to do but its very unclear on how to add bb service on o2 pay and go and how much it costs.

T-mobile wanted 100 pounds for the year

Orange gave me 6 months free bb service so i transfered my number from o2, they gave me 10 credit and im with them.

i have an o2 contract now with the internet plan its an 18 month plan but i was wondering if they'd let me change it for the BIS?

wonder if its worth a phonecall.

I believe its only tmobile that charge you extra for the BB add on.

Both O2 and Orange are £5 for the BB service but that include 500mb of internet (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Tmobile charge £7.50 for internet & £7.50 for BB service (both reduced to £5 each if you enter into an 18mth contract on the add on's), furthermore, you can't have one without the other - talk about bleeding you dry, lol. Thats why I got rid of my BB so quickly - wasn't worth it (on Tmobile anyway!) :whistling:

I'm not sure how it works on O2 contract - is it the SImplicity one??? I'm with Tmobile, so I more or less know them inside out!

I understand that if you get free bolt on's, you should be able to get them to change the internet bolt on to the one you can use with Blackberry's (which also includes internet usage)... Give them a call - they SHOULD be able to help you out or advise .
