BBC drops Neighbours

Yippee kai yay! It's about bloody time that they dropped this garbage from the schedule. It is so annoying knowing that BBC is a no go area between 5.30 and 6pm, but things will be changing soon :w00t:
Pukka! Now the BEEB can use the savings they will make for something tat everyone wants to watch. A re-run of Countryfile on one day maybe? I'm never up on Sunday morning to watch it, so that would be a welcome addition to the schedule.
Now all I want is for ITV to drop Emmerdale. A bigger load of rubbish have I ever had to persevere with? I gladly say, not.

ok don't get too excited the BBC are still showing it till march/april next year

shocking

I haven't watched it since about 1995 but hard to believe it's been on the BBC for 21 years!

Typical greed of the TV company selling it though - wanting £300m over eight years!
#4
Bit gutted about this! Neighbours is easily the best soap on at the moment, and now it's gonna end up with an advert in it half way through!!!!!!
#5
I'd be mad if the BBC gave in and paid that much! It's disgraceful! Good on the BBC i say.

All together now - Yay!
#7
Is it totally getting scrapped :geek: or just moving channels?

Im gutted, been watching since i was little!
#8

#9

LOL

It's like Marmite, you either like it or loathe it. I would rather watch a test card personally. As for the comment about the £300m that Grundy wanted, yes, it is outrageous. Neighbours isn't worth that much money. It just isn't.
Ch5 are welcome to it. As a public service broadcaster, the BEEB are obligated to use their money wisely and give the punter value. It would be scandalous for them to blow £300m on this show. I would want exclusive rights to the next 10 years of FA Cup finals for that money!

Its still going to be there just by pressing 4 or 5 instead of 1.

But like now you can choose not to watch it, very simply done :?

Yup it has. I don't blame the beeb for dropping it given how much was now being asked for it, but the people who are saying it got dropped cos it's crap are obviously just...clueless :P

I am not too bothered, neighbours is easily the best soap on TV...beats the crappy UK soaps hands down at the moment, but as long as it's not going completely I don't care what channel it moves to :)

Havnt seen neighbours for years, it used to really good.

I used to watch it in the pubs when I was at school - it must have been on the telly about at about 1.30; we'd go to play pool in the pub at lunch time this was always on the telly. That would have been around 1987 or so.

The junior siculi have a lot to live up to -:whistling:

Cheers, Dio :)

I suppose that opinion would depend on whether the Discovery Channel or CBEEBies is your cup of tea :p
I know people that think Emmerdale is great. You are always gonna get differing opinions on what is an intelectual watch and what is mindless dross.

Yeah, but the people saying it's being dropped because it's crap are wrong. Not saying everyone has to like it, but it's being dropped because they are now asking for too much monkey for it!
#25
it best not be on five, i hate that channel and will refuse to watch it on there.
they ruined home and away, uefa cup football etc
#26
it has been taken by five

Channel 4 is effectively a public service and partly funded from Government funds.
