Its ridiculous that in the 21st century, our state broadcaster even has a religious department, if religious people want to carry on with their daft beliefs let them do it in the privacy of their own homes, why should the rest of us have to fork out through the license fee, funds used to justify their idiotic ideas.

So you want our "state broadcaster" to deliberately snub a large percentage of the population to pander to you, how is that serving the people who pay for it?.
I'd like to see all sport, soaps, costume dramas, detective shows and fly on the wall\reality TV shows axed.

Just because a percentage, i would argue that its not a large percentage but a small one, of the population, have a strange belief in something should not justify a BBC dept dedicated to it, there are a percentage of the population that believe in the Loch Ness monster, should that have its own dept?, how about the Yeti or fairies, should we have a head of broadcasting for the belief in aliens?, i would argue that there are more people in this country that believe in life elsewhere in the universe than any of the gods you can conjure up, should we have a Head of E.T diversity at the Beeb?

I take it OP didn't see the programme they are objecting to. It wasn't a promotion for IS and anyone who thinks so is an idiot (or just reads Daily Mail headlines which is much the same thing)

Oh Alan, she gave him a platform to spout his sympathy for the political grievances of the terrorist organisation Islamic State, he also said the murders of hostages who were beheaded were not unprovoked.

So by paying the tv license you're indirectly supporting terrorism?.

It's more harmful to watch the BBC than pirating videos?.

First of all, what religious television?, Secondly shouldn't the head of it be neutral, not of any religion but someone who is not a rabid atheist, such as someone from a arts, architecture or literary background who would have studied religious arts and culture etc as part of that wider field so they are knowledgeable and open minded

Why does the BBC hate traditional English values so much?

Can we look forward in the near future to a Christian being appointed as head of religious broadcasting in a Muslim country?

to be honest, I most probably ticked Christian in the census, I think if you were brought up christian you just tick the box automatically whether you believe or not. I really think that the 2011 census is not a great guide.
