I've seen a few episodes and can't seem to make my mind up about this guy. One thing I do know is he is pretty gross (If you've seen what he does, you know what I mean) Read More

what do you mean by fraud?

he does a lot of intense stuff, when he makes a camp for the night, He doesn't sleep there during the night and stuff but I personally wouldn't call him a fraud

I call fraud, I'm more impressed by Mears.
Grylls seems to do things just for the camera and makes out that he's in lots and lots of danger.
eg. Almost drowning in a pool of rancid water, when there is a camera underwater filming him and also claiming that he has no idea how far the stretch of water is, but there is a camera man waiting for him to surface at the other side?
I could give examples from many other situations from the series.
FAKE!

Ha Ha, he really got owned there!
Thats the kinda thing I mean, everything he does seems fully manipulated to me but he still tries to make out he is in total danger.

I have watched this a couple of times and thought it was good, though I did find some things rather odd - can't think of anything exact, but stuff like what MagicMonkey said

Now I know why! :giggle:

haha. it's even funnier watching it the second time when you see how cautious he pretends to be when crossing it after having seen a tourist waltz over it.

difference is i'd take mears everyday of the week to help me survive in the middle of nowhere as he actually knows his stuff but you could prob get some wannabee x factor contestant to read grylls autocue, stay in his hotels, eat some raw eggs and you'd still have the same programme.

Anyone that knows anything about horses knows that there is no way in hell that a wild, unbroken horse is going to let a man ride it bareback. What an idiot for trying (if it were actually a real wild horse, which we are expected to believe).

Legend!!

Im sure if i pulled up any documentary i could fish out a bunch of fake things. I find the show very entertaining and bear comes across as a nice chap all round.

For each person saying he is a fake i put it down to jealousy id love to see some of these idiots (most likely beer guzzlers wit pot bellys) do half the stuff and come away smiling.

Long live bear grylls!!

Pure artistic licence that is pretty much needed to make this sort of prog. It's like saying that Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon when we all know the camera crew had arrived there a few days before to do a location recce and shoo the aliens away...
