Becoming a Lord

Hello everyone,

Ive been looking at some sites tonight about turning my husband into a lord. I had heard it was possible but didnt realise it was so readily available. This site here claims to be able to turn my hubby into a lord for either £14.95 or £21.95

http://www.lordtitles.co.uk/

Has anyone ever done this before? And is it really possible to change your bank cards to say Lord instead of Mr like it says on this website u can. What would this involve? Also does anyone know what the banks would actualy want in order to change the title.

Thanks everyone, rep will be added in thanks

you can put ANYTHING you like on bank cards etc as long as your intentions are not illegal/fraudulent so you certainly dont need a piece of paper to do it.

likewise,as long as there is no illegal intent you can call yourself anything you want,lord.sir.whatever.

You can call yourself whatever you want to as long as it's not for fraudulent reasons.

I could therefore call myself Lord Virus at no expense. I could probably get a bank card which stated so too.

Hey - two almost identical posts at the same minute in time!!!

seriously, surely that would be fraudulent though cos he doent own any regal land? Could he actualy waltz into barclays on mon morning and just say im no longer a Mr I am now a Lord, please change my Cards?

Just use a standard change of name intent form this needs to be witnessed by two people, its a legal declaration of your name change and is fully accepted by banks/dvla and other authority's, I have done this myself, there is no need (as many mistakenly believe) to pay for a change of name deed, if anyone wants the documents pm me your email and I will send them in PDF and Words .doc format.

I'm not female but there is nothing stopping me using the title Miss as part of my name.

Read the Protected Names and Trademarks Act... that'll give you more info.

Is becoming a lord a change of name though? I was thinking it was just a change of title? I actualy wouldnt mind having the certificate of lordship hung in our study as a laugh

you think lord sutch who formed the monster raving looney party was a lord?? its NOT fraud-you can call yourself anything you like. Put doctor on your card,father,sir,lord-strangelu it IS illegal to use letters AFTER your name that you arent entitled to use-you cannot put any qualifications after your name that you do not have, nor can you put MBE.OBE etc-this is fraud.

but as a prefix you can say anything you like as long as you have no intent to use said name to defraud anyone.

we have a friend who bought a dodgy hypnotherapy degree over the internet from america-all his documents(except his passport) say DR Alan *** on them.

harlzter - why did you change yours and what to?
#13
Changed my initially to disassociate myself from my ex-wife who was fraudulently filling forms out and racking up huge debts in my name.

Done it since for a brief period to Hugh Jarse and Jack Daniels because someone said I wouldnt dare.

Did u just ask to speak to someone in the bank to change it? Was it easy like just a form or something?

out of interest, virus/barkyhow do you guys know this? you changed you names/titles?harlzter - why did you change yours and what to?

like I said above m8-we have a friend, bought a doctorate online for 17 dollars and calls himself doctor-he is actually a highly respected local hypnotherapist for fear of flying/stopping smoking etc-all his newspaper ads call him a doctor, yet he never even went to college-just read a few books!

also, when our oldest son got married-it was quite a quirky wedding in america-his best friend from school went out, paid 25 dollars and was ordained as a minister in 5 minutes and actually married my son and his wife! he is entitled to call himself a minister and can conduct weddings in philadelphia-lol!

also, mrs barkys sister is twice married-she already had one daughter when she married her second husband-this daughter just told the school, doctor, dentist etc that she had changed her surname, and after 2 years of being known by that name, that legally becomes your name(you can even get a passport in that name then)-no deed poll required.

Slightly pretentious.

Incredibly awesome.

I saw a program on TV (or maybe a story on the news) a few years ago about this. Basically, some pieces of land come with the 'Lord' title attached to it so if you own a piece of that land, you are entitled to refer to yourself as Lord Smith or whatever.

Well, that's how I remember it. The website mentioned in the OP says "These legally processed deeds include land within Chelmswood Manor estate" which would support what I heard.

Might want to give this a read OP - looks like the whole scheme is just a waste of money: http://www.faketitles.com/html/lord_titles________.html

Reminds me of those 'gifts' where you get a certificate entitling you to own a piece of the Moon. A con.
