Hiya can anyone offer any advice on beds? We are after a new one (o/h has bad back and our mattress is past it) do we go for sprung or memory foam?
Have seen frames for like £100 but didn't want to skimp on the mattress with o/h. Wanted to get a decent one and ask or suggestions as we are stuck once we get it.
Has anyone picked up anything decent recently, any good offers about?
Is there really that much difference between memory foam and a sprung mattress? Is it worth paying the extra?
Suggestions welcome would ideally like divan with storage in.
£300 budget but not fixed.

thanks.

I dunno how everybody feels about the memory foam ones but I think it loses its firmness quickly.

Have you thought about getting a good quality thick memory foam mattress topper? I prefer a topper on a normal sprung mattress than a complete memory foam mattress as you seem to sink to much into those. Works out much cheaper as well.

I dont personally have one but my friend paid £1000 for hers a while back and she said within a couple of months the mattress was crap, maybe they are better now I dunno.

My Mum also has the topper and I think even that has started to go a bit funny but they are much easier replaced than the whole mattress.

i bought a memory foam mattress a few years ago but didnt find them that comfortable and i paid quite a bit for it. i got a memory foam topper from B&M for £50 and worked so much better so got one for son who had a cheap spring mattress that was soooooooo uncomfortable i felt cruel making him sleep on it lol and it makes such a difference you wouldnt believe so i would just get a quality mattress and get a topper for it as then when it goes a bit it wont cost to much to replace.(come with a washable cover too)

the old saying of 'you get what you pay for' really on mattresses, We got a great foam one custom made for our ikea frame (ikea are great for going down the non-standard size route with their stuff!). Payed £800 for it last year, took about 3 months to get it 'worked in' now the best mattress I've ever owned, great for back sufferers and those with good backs!

I bought a Millbrook bed ten years ago for £800 - paid for it over 6 months interest free credit back then. That bed is still as comfy as day I bought it and still not a squeak - but I am going to replace it just because of general hygiene.

You get what you pay for

DONT be tempted by a tesco bed... (I work 4 tesco btw) bought a suffolk metal frame, lasted a month - and now i've had to support the head and bottom of the bed with books. seriously weak.

Am I right in thinking you are from Blackpool?

If you can get over my way I can get you a super thick quality mattress with memory foam topper already attached for £30, they retail at just under £200 http://www.recticel.co.uk/editorials.asp?c=2&d=2

Replaced worst matress ever made this year with a Silentnight one. Best move I ever made. Cant remember the exact name its not the micro quilt (cover on top of springs not quite thick enough) and its not the deep quilt (out of my budget) but one in between. So comfortable though

Just DONT use Bensons for Beds.
A horrendous company which we have had problems with now for nearly 2 years.

Only just stopped harassing us for payment for a bed we didnt ever receive.
Moronic managers and a head office that resembles a chimps tea party.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Rant over lol

Hi, we've had two mattresses from these people
http://www.sleepassureduk.com/
one for us and one for the spare bed...their double memory foam mattress is £169. We've had one for about 6 months (used every day) and it is great, which is why we order a second one.

wow would love one for £30!!!!
