Been a stupid noob..........will read the FS/FT rules next time!!!

Went and bought an item (Samsung Tocco Lite) which I had placed an offer on, then Mods locked the thread as the op had been flagrantly abusing the 'bump' facility. Basically, the op then PMd me to accept my offer and I paid via Paypal. All went quiet. I sent a few PMs - still nothing. Then emailed him direct and got a load of BS about item being collected by courier next day blah blah blah!. Sounded fishy. Then I located a previous thread in which the op was selling an Hitachi Hard Drive recently, and the buyer was also suspicious about delivery etc. He was given same BS as me about seriously ill/courier letting him down etc etc and in both cases we were refunded back via Paypal from the op.
Op has now placed 3 items for sale, although not currently active, and seems to be oddly enough having camera problems/courier problems/serious illness/lack of comms and then refunds??????? Cant put my finger on it, but why go to all the bother of listing, accepting offers and then NOT actually dispatching them? Not exactly a scam as he has always refunded (I think?)

you need to leave feedback and let others know about this
#2
at least you got refunded.

Take it as a lesson learnt as you could have lost out. But it does sound a bit odd

Can they actually leave fb though? There was no trade, I thought trades done off threads via pm were not eligible for fb, maybe totally wrong though!

Glad you got refunded. You should take time to review the rules in full.

The 'seller' will have a little longer.

Yes, it does seem odd and that is the main reason I have posted here. I just want to warn others. But the strange thing is I cant really flag it as a 'scam' as I got my refund within 24 hours (as did a previous buyer according to another post).
I did want to leave feedback, but as already stated, cant really do so as I purchased via PM as he accepted my bid after the Mod had locked the thread. Anyway, guess you guys are right - I was definitely lucky!

Even odder that I keep getting emails from the 'seller' telling me that the courier has collected; that he has contacted the courier and they have no update for me/no record of the collection but I have checked the 'waybill number' he gave me which appears not to exist. 'Seller' is still adamant that it has been collected and I will receive but has refunded my £60 as a 'gesture of goodwill'. Needless to say, IF it arrives I will have to make a sincere and big apology. But the whole thing smells as fishy as a cat's burp :-)

Very strange indeed. However I do await the other members response.

you have to ask yourself if its worth putting a block on members joining just to use the FS/FT section at least that way it might discourage a few from joining that are doing so just to try and rip people off .... i suggest 6 months for any new member before they are allowed to sell anything then at a limit of say £50 for the next 6 months

Something like that sounds like a good idea to me, and would certainly reassure me when bidding on a item.

You sent £60.00 to someone who has only just joined and has no feedback whatsoever and who dealt with you via PM?
You were incredibly lucky to get your money back.

Yes, no argument there!! Have learned my lesson. Had several emails from the Seller telling me that item has been collected by the courier, no tracking information available to him though and then giving me hard times via email

QUOTE ']How dare you make it sound like I scammed you, I sold you the phone in good faith for less than I was asking, sent it & gave you the tracking number which is not my fault if they havnt updated there systems. If I was a dishonest seller John I wouldn't have kept in touch with you with all this info, would I ??]

My response to that is er, so where is the phone then?????????????? Why is the tracking number invalid????????????
