Hi
Hope somebody who has been in the unfortunate position can help me, I have been made redundant and have my p60, I'm looking for work at the moment and have a couple of interviews coming up but what happens now?

Do i just wait for a job or do i need to tell the job centre or what? I have never been in this position before

Any help would be really appreciated

tell the job centre so you can claim job seekers

Contact the job centre asap. Even if you are not eligible for benefits immediately you should still start your claim as soon as you are unemployed......

You need to go to the job center to sign on. If you got a pay out you may not be entitled to anything yet but your stamp will still be paid. Hope you have some luck with the interviews

You need to contact your local jobcentre plus to register for benefits if you want to claim. You need to be an elligible UK citizen, over 16, and have paid NI contributions for at least a year from your last job.

To look for work in your area, try this site http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/index.html

For everything else try here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/campaigns/jobcentreplus/DG_172511?PRO=emc&CRE=Jobs

Oh btw, if you are not bothered what work you do, it may be worth registering at your local job agency, they will be able to get you temporary work for the time being. You could well walk back into work tomorrow :)

this happened to us last june and was real stuck right in it we couldnt claim for the first 10 weeks as my partner would of lost the rights to the 10 weeks paid notice you are to recieve.and when we did claim we got awarded £92 per week paid fortnightly off jobseekers what use is that to anyone with a morgage to pay and 3 children. your best bet to be honest is have a break wait for your redundancy pay to come through takes between 8 amd 12 weeks and then just get another job.

You will not get a job on the Olympic Stadium construction works - nor will anyone else who is British

not entitled to any redundancy as i didnt work there for over 2yrs and the company has gone bust. and to rub salt in the wounds it will take 4-6 weeks to get my wages back i can only claim a maximum of £350 a week
