Been robbed.

Ok i'm really angry and had to vent somewhere. I work at a fast food joint and we hang our jackets in the staff room. Some jackass came up with the brilliant idea of removing pockets from the uniforms, so my wallet and phone had to be left in the jacket.
Had 60 quid in it. I know it might not be a huge amount for many of you but i'm a student and get paid minimum wage. So thats basically more that half my weekly pay.
Is there anything I can do now? ^%$&^

They have to have a sign that says that, or it needs to be in your contract. If it's not, you can claim through the store.

I would think the employer would have to take some responsibility, especially if they haven't provided you with a safe place to keep your belongings. What are you supposed to do, leave your house keys at home?!

Yeah, take £60 from the till

You need to report it to your boss, because if the person is stealing from staff, that person may also be doing the same from the shop.

I can't see Sting being much help.

Do you suspect who it is if it's staff?

Hey, a fellow Aberdonian!

AberdeenMum is one of Grampian's girls in blue and says you should report this to her colleagues.

That made me LOL, but its true.
All the manager will do when I tell him is to be careful in future and put up a few notices in the staff area, asking people to come talk to him in confidence if they have any info.

AHAHAHAHAHHAHA. How stupid, you made the choice to leave your stuff in the open. Common sense would say do not take it if you have to leave it out.

Do you not need your keys, wallet and phone when you get out of home?

hopefully you get it sorted i got £250 quid nicked from my locker about 15 years ago, worked for a big company, reported it and i got interigated by security asking why i had so much cash in with me?.and if i had any enemys
it was wages day and at time i paid my parents £150 diggs and that was most you could withdraw in those days, not sure about signs warning you about being at your own risk having to be up tho,i dont think thats the case tho i may be wrong.

Next time put any money in your socks. You may look like a drug dealer but at least you won't get robbed.

Its an international fast food joint and like most international fast food joints, employee welfare isn't very high on the priority list.
The CCTV doesn't cover the staff area. Only the customer areas and the tills are covered. There is a locker in the managers office for employee's valuables but no one bothers with it everyday.

sounds about right its a different story when their tills are £60 quid short i bet

Surely there must be more to the story than meets the eye otherwise you would have contacted the Police by now and had a rage fit directly with your manager.

What possible motives do you think i have in posting it here?
I spoke to my manager and all he told me was to be careful next time and do you really think the police will do anything for a petty theft on a private property with limited access?

it's probably quite obvious who the thieving little **** is, you'll find out soon enough and (as long as you're not a pussy) teach him a lesson after work in a dark quiet place
