Depends what you prefer...

Wait for the BBQ season, supermarkets love an offer then, or the start of th World Cup will make some beer bargains arrive.
#4
There are licensing laws about at the moment that mean retailers aren't supposed to be offering great deals such as these for alcohol - it's just that not licensing authority has had the balls to take the big guys on, yet.
#5
Don't fret there will be plenty of bargain booze later on in the summer so we can all binge out and end up either in court for drunken related behaviour or on jeremy kyle to try and get rehabilitated :)

do you have links to this please?

there was talk about the government getting tougher on cheap alcohol but i didnt realise anything had been confirmed.....especially as they refused to limit the advertising of alcohol pre-watershed (9pm) and limiting its target audience..... which was brushed under the carpet with the whole drugs "furore"

btw morrisons 3 cases for £18 has only just finished so id imagine there will be a new offer starting shortly

I never said we were the first ever country to ban it. Scotland were the first in the UK to have the ban introduced.

I don't need your life's history - but thanks for sharing.

BTW, this stalking thing is getting a bit tedious - how about you give it a rest?

I never gave duff info out - I said there was a law restricting alcohol promotions, and there is. I was under the impression this was Hot UK Deals not Hot England Deals.

There is Law pertaining to it in England and Wales as well - http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts2009/ukpga_20090026_en_5#pt3-l1g32

You only make yourself look stupid by trying to call me out at every given opportunity.

I gave you proof - although you asked for a link...

Scotland is in the UK. From link I previously gave you:

The Act introduces a range of measures that together aim to reduce the adverse impact drinking has on
society. For example:
• a premises licence will be refused if the application is deemed inconsistent with one or more of the
licensing objectives
• the banning of ‘irresponsible promotional activities’ in both on- and off-sales, such as ‘happy
hours’, and other promotions, like ‘two-for-ones’, which encourage binge and speed drinking
• drink prices fixed for a minimum of 72 hours in on- and off-sales premises

The Policing and Crime Act I also provided a link to clearly sets out provision for England and Wales to do the exact same.

Section 32 introduces Schedule 4 which makes provision about mandatory licensing conditions relating to alcohol.

214.Schedule 4 amends the Licensing Act 2003 to create an enabling power that allows the Secretary of State to set out (in secondary legislation) no more than nine mandatory licence conditions relating to the supply of alcohol for all new and existing premises licences and for all new and existing club premises certificates respectively (or for those premises licences or club premises certificates of a particular description);

215.All conditions must be in made in accordance with the four licensing objectives set out in the Licensing Act 2003. These are:

the prevention of crime and disorder;
public safety;
the prevention of public nuisance; and
the protection of children from harm.

216.Paragraph 1 amends the Licensing Act 2003 so that where premises are licensed to sell alcohol, their licence is subject to the mandatory conditions specified in an order made by the Secretary of State.

217.Paragraph 2 amends the Licensing Act 2003 to allow the Secretary of State, in secondary legislation, to specify up to nine mandatory licensing conditions that could apply to all current or future premises licences. Each mandatory condition takes precedence over any existing licensing conditions to the extent the mandatory conditions are identical or inconsistent and more onerous.

218.Paragraphs 3 and 4 are equivalent to paragraphs 1 and 2 respectively, except that they relate to club premises certificates rather than to premises licences (the list of conditions in respect of club premises certificates could be different to that for premises licences). These certificates relate to members’ clubs rather than nightclubs.

219.These powers extend to England and Wales.

220.There are further minor and consequential amendments to the Licensing Act 2003 set out in Schedule 7.

Clearly, you can't be bothered to read through the links you asked for. I've even highlighted the relevant parts for you, as you struggled last time.

yes your link to scotland is applicable but when was scotland on its own the UK?

the other link is nonsense......there are no restrictions on special offers or cheap alcohol in england at this time. FACT

Where in my statement above did I mention anything about the Law in question having to be UK wide? You made that assumption, not me.

I showed you the link to the England and Wales law as it makes the provision (nine to be exact) for enacting additional licensing conditions similar to those already in force in Scotland.

casparwhite
you said this you were and are wrong......

So, clearly, this is law pertaining to the restriction of promotions, so it's not wrong.

You can carry on regardless, as I know you will, even with the facts presented to you, you still argue the odds.

Moob and Casparwhite - You two sound like two blokes arguing at the end of a night out having drank too much beer. Both being right regardless of what proof can/cannot be provided by the other.

Thankfully it's not just me who is subjected to his immature nonsense.

you were the 1 suggesting there was legislation governing the whole of the UK.....there isnt

where did you suggest you were talking about only scotland? are we supposed to be mind readers now to understand what you are saying in your posts?

moob
I showed you the link to the England and Wales law as it makes the provision (nine to be exact) for enacting additional licensing conditions similar to those already in force in Scotland.

what you showed is not current legisaltion like you were suggesting

moob
So, clearly, this is law pertaining to the restriction of promotions, so it's not wrong.

well there is no law/legislation currently restricting alcohol promotion in england or wales like you suggest so it is wrong

maybe go back and correct your original post to scotland, then we wouldnt be having this pointless argument. instead of pointing to scottish legislation and suggesting its for the whole of the UK;-)
#31
1. I never suggested anything about the legislation being UK wide, you clearly had that stipulation in your own head - I said there was legislation governing the promotion of alcohol sales - you assumed I meant all over the UK.

2. I didn't have to state the Law only covered Scotland. You decided that.

3. The Policing and Crime Act 2009 is Law makes the provision for adding licensing conditions. The Act is Law, the licensing conditions are exactly that, not Law.

4. Going round in circles as usual. See points above.

5. We wouldn't be having this pointless argument if you weren't a poster on here trolling the boards as is your raison d'etre.

My birthday this weekend and was going to have a BBQ Saturday and invite people round. Lager deals seem non existant :(

its because of the alcohol restrictions/licensing laws we have in place, they arent allowed to do any promotions any more:lol:
