tbh why do they care?! :S they've already got the money in the till when it was purchased lol

They dont ask where your cash came from they shouldnt with gift cards. They have no right to do it surely?
#4
can't you ask them to do a balance check?

I work for Dorothy Perkins part of Burtons. Once you have started to put the sale through and you are then offered the gift card as payment, the till asks how much is being paid for by giftcard. If you just put in the whole ammount as giftcard it will tell you there is not enough on the card to pay, so it is easier to just ask in the first place. Your giftcard balance always comes up on your till receipt anyway
. You can get a gift card balance on the till, but not in the middle of a transaction.

This is also the same for HMV and Waterstones, I think most giftcards work like this.
