Being ripped off by a well known company.

Hi all
I bought a keyboard from a well known company about a year ago. It no longer works. So I arrange to send it back. (it's not quite a year so still in warranty) I have been told that the keyboard is now discontinued so they will refund me, but as the item is older than 6 months old, I won't get a full refund?!?!?! I paid £63 for the keyboard and getting £51 back. Are they allowed to do this??

Yes? The item loses value, so they refund you a percentage of the retail price last year, I had this RMA'ing a year old gfx card, ofc you should get a replacement (of similar value) offered too. Was worth about 85 when bought, got a 9800GT back which they sold for about 70.

Yes they are allowed to give you a partial refudn if you have used it for almost a year

Sounds fair.........£1 p/m for use. Should have gone to the manufacturer as they would no doubt be able to replace it.

Don't know the legal stance but look at it as only costing you £12 for 11 months use

very generous of them, how exactly is this a rip off??

the way prices drop you could probably get a better keyboard for the £51 refund so happy days.

If its Logitech (as many expensive keyboards are), phone them up directly and they will replace with newer better model for free.

Sorry guys, just never heard of I before. When I questioned it, they said "oh it's just something we do!"
It's never happened to me so thought I would just ask. (and yes I should have just sent it back to logitech! ho hum)

Cheers all

Logitech's customer service is fantastic. They replaced my G-Series mouse with a newer model despite being outside the warranty period. It's definitely good business practice as I subsequently purchased a set of their speakers, a fancy keyboard and a steering wheel :p
