I did a search for the surname I got from the annual return in London and that was the only address that came up.

So that person definitely lives at that address, or did when the database was last updated!
#7
couldnt we buy something really cheap which wouldnt take along time to arrive and see how that goes? wats the cheapest thing there?

Could it depend on the allocated stock?

It might be that they're due stock on different dates which is why people are quoted different delivery dates depending on the stock allocation they've received.

Just looking for possible reasons....

My order number was (without giving it all) 144X and i've been given a dispatch date of 26th November.
#10
if that is the case this is looking better. if it was indeed a scam they would have said 1 date for everyone.

but as i stated earlier that property was sold in feb2007 so i doubt that address has anything to do with the company anymore

I can't see cheaper than £20 after a quick search - http://www.musthave100.co.uk/index.php?target=products&product_id=16240

I could get 1/5 of a 32" LCD TV for that :)

The annual was updated in August 2007 so after the date the property was last sold. So this person must be at that address?

it may need 3 weeks to clear funds that why the dates are in 3 weeks time.imagine him having 1000 lcd tv`s arriving at his flat in 3 weeks time ready to distribute lol

Don't alot of these companies buy electrical stuff via "drop off" I think its called, whereby they never actually see the equipment and it is just sent out directly to the buyers

Paypal are supposedly there till 22:00 - perhaps someone could call them and suggest they should think about whether to allow withdrawels by the merchant until the situation is confirmed - it would look very bad if the press picked up on 100's of people scammed via their payment system just before xmas.

Paypal buyer protection seems to be worthless as they only refund money still in the merchants account and their is a strong arguement that credit card section 75 protection is also invalid as the credit card transaction is with paypal not the merchant - I understand this has not yet been tested in court.

I agree good idea.

Would you want to contact paypal?

If you know about their policies, credit card protection etc. you might know more than most to put a good case forward

forget it just do it tomoz. im sure guv will do it lol

I can't imagine Paypal will be able to do anything, the guy/company hasn't done anything wrong as yet and surely if we could get them to put a stop on his account that would mean we wouldn't get the t.v's as he wouldn't be able to pay for them either. Does that make sense?

As the number and sophistication of websites continues to grow, it will become increasingly difficult to differentiate between sites selling knock-offs and sites selling the real thing. There are no guarantees — scams can hide anywhere.

Order from reputable sites with solid privacy policies.
If the price looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Make sure the site has an adequate return policy and relies on a reputable shipping company.
On the ordering page, look for the prefix "https" at the beginning of the URL, which indicates that you have entered a secure server area.
Check for a disclaimer near the order form indicating that the site uses a Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

At first I was quiet about everything as I could see a 35 page post frenzy about to break out, hence me not calling them up to find out whats going on as everyone is getting the same reply.

So there's no real need, what I am worried about is the dates they keep quoting are inconsistent (weekends etc)

Now I'm trying not to worry I ordered TWO but in seperate transactions rather then one transaction, I do not know if that was a good or bad idea.

Paid via PayPal as I feel we have a little more of a chance then with Google...

Another thing I flagged up is a couple of times he sent users who paid by Google a message saying disregard the email from google checkout saying the item has been shipped as it was a mistake and it will be done later in november, but thats simply been done to allow google to release the funds to him (the google checkout email) ?

It is possible the items are drop shipped to customers directly, but I wonder how much they are making on these if anything at all...?

Am not far from the Newham address but at this current moment feel it is inappropriate to 'take action'

What I may do is contact my Bank to flag it up as I'd rather not run the risk. However I am wondering how do they get so all the shop safe verification?

....Bit of a long one but there is a few points there..

Oh and, City Link do not have a "Recorded Delivery" that was really worrying me.....

hmmmmm.... what you guys think?

I think it might be advisable to send the company an e-mail and ask them to comment on the thread, seeing as they must be aware of it anyway. I could do this if no one else has done it yet. This should help clear up any discrepancies. I realise them commenting is not proof that the whole deal is legit, but it seems to be the only way to make their selling procedure of the Beko TV more public.

I've sent an email to musthave100 asking a few pertinent questions.

As you say, any reply isn't proof either way, but it would be interesting to hear what (if anything) they have to say.

I maybe missing something but I do not know what good that will do, as it may encourage them to attempt to pull the wool over our eyes even more (so to speak)

I would rather someone called them and said they don’t know their order number and gave the SKU code with a false name/address and see what they say, if they say it’s expected on Nov xx then I’m pulling out and calling my bank and flagging the issue with PayPal.

Didn't someone already do that in the huge thread in 'Hot Deals'?

And they got told the order would be delivered...... worryingly.

Good idea but their website online account system works so I guess they do have a system that shows who's ordered with order numbers etc.

I think recorded delivery just means it's signed for. I don't know of a courier that doesn't ask for a signature. While their terminology of 'recorded delivery' might be wrong it means the same thing - it just requires a signature on delivery.

That's my understanding anyway
