So what have users found to be the best phone out at the moment and is there any phones coming out soon which are worth waiting for?

I've got a HTC Hero at the moment which I think is fantastic, but the Desire is a superior phone by all accounts.....

Desire.

desire desire so good they named it twice

I actually ordered a desire from dialaphone the other day but the speed it's taking them to process the order and the fact that earliest delivery date is next week I've decided to just go into a shop and get a phone.

Is the desire better than the sony ericsson X10 or Vivaz?

Just got the Desire, ain't touched my Iphone once, I think its far better feel and enjoying simplicity of use.

Desire stocks are low everywhere I was told by Vodafone and has high demmand.

Desire for sure

Just wait until the summer for the HTC Evo, it will blow even the Desire out the water.

Has that been confirmed for UK release yet though?

Milestone, I can't cope without a QWERTY.

When is the desire going to be out on o2??
#13
what happened to the massive desire owners thread?

Motorola Milestone is awesome.

What would make a milestone better than a desire? Is it just the qwerty keyboard?

desire has better processor, better screen and more ram, just the motorola has the QWERTY, which I myself also prefer but i tried a LG Intouch Max and that keyboard was rubbish IMO.

I take it they both run the same software? Not a big fan of the qwerty keyboards on phones but they do come in handy when drunk. I might just go in store and ask to have a play with both a desire and milestone andsee which one feels better.

Are they the top 2 out just now then?

just got my first android....went for the Desire :)
Can't fault it, plenty of free apps available both useful and fun!

I will say it depends on what you are using it for.

If you are planning on using it as a mp3 player. I would get the Sony x10.
The medeascap mp3 player is fantastic, much more like a proper mp3 player, and the sound quality is fantastic as well.

On the other hand if you want a good all round phone, I would go with the desire. It's not quite up there on the media side with the x10 (for me), but overall i would say it has the edge at the moment.

I currently have the sony x10, but have also used the desire a lot as well.

They keep delaying the date its meant to be coming out, first it was april, then end of april, now they're saying 10th of May, though heard reports 02 staff have been saying mid-end of may, the amount of people that have left for delaying them, according to the 02 forums (http://forum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=36396&start=1515) is quite considerable!

I'm still waiting for one, something to do with stock shortages & them putting software/firmware branding onto them, has meant customers have to wait!

You maybe thinking of the HTC incredible.

Id like a Desire but prefered the Nexus - if only you could buy it in the UK for under £400.

Because of the price Im tempted by the Milestone and the plus is the QWERTY but I have big thumbs and theres alot of reviews mentioning the crampness of the keys. Not being able to try before I buy sucks

How do Milestone owners find it (im coming from an iphone 3g)?

I just installed Snes Roms on my Desire.

speaking as someone who has tried a ton of phones, including the hero, the hd2 and several others, the iphone blows all competition out of the water. apple suck bigtime but their phone is the best on the market atm.

Really the iphone blows everything else out of the water?

I must of missed that one, is it the very high quality, high resolution screen that does it?

Or maybe the high quality camera?

Or could it possible be the large amount or ram, or even the very fast processor.

As i know the interface is no better for me, than the 4 android phones I have owned.

its just my opinion.
it is mainly the apps that make it in fairness..... one thing that android can't (YET!) compete with!
and everything just works with no messing.
the screen has good enough resolution
the hero and many other android phones also have shocking cameras
for the better processor and ram, no phone is as stable as the iphone..... or as fast!
android and hd2 both have great processors but the interface isn't yet up to scratch so it wastes a lot of that processing power!

arguing all you want but until you pick up the iphone and use it, you won't get it.

I too was an apple hater before. I've owned a ton of smart phones to avoid buying an iphone, on principle and on specs
but when i eventually gave in and tried it out, it was better.
unlike the winmo and android phones i've had, i now never need to reset my phone. it never crashes and everything just works on it.

If you buy on ebay, there's not a lot of difference price wise between the 3gs and the desire.....
so try it and see what you think for yourself. As much as i hate apple, they've made the gold standard in smart phones. everyone else is just playing catch up atm.

I would of picked up and used a iphone long before you, as i was in las Vegas the week after they were released. And could not resist a new bit of technology.
Although there are far more applications available now, there is nothing extra over what's out on android that I would use.

Whilst yes they were good at the time, for me they have now been left far behind. Both hardware without a doubt, and starting to get the same way with software.(my opinion of course)
