I've had a look online around here and it seems you must have a bt line then get broadband on top of that? We used to be on tiscali about a year ago and Im sure you didn't need a phone line then but maybe its changed?

If you have virgin on your street then thats your best bet for wired broadband as you dont need a phoneline aswell. If you want to with broadband through a BT line, then I dont think you can have any broadband without paying BT line rental aswell.

The only way to get brooadband without a phone line would be to go with Virgin or to use a mobile broadband dongle. If you need standard ADSL broadband, which your Tiscali would have been, you will need a phone line, either from BT or from O2, Sky or whoever is now able to provide line rental. My personal recomendation, if you live near an unbundled exchange would be to go with 02 as their speed for the money is very difficult to beat.

You absolutely need a phone line for any kind of broadband other than cable from Virgin.

O2 are good - discounted if you have a mobile with them and with quidco.

unfortunately virgin cant be used because cable isn't available in that area and unfortunately no-one is on o2. Any more ideas?
