Hi, gonna get new glasses next week, usually go to Optical Express but even though i 'get a pair free', the last ones i got 3 years ago cost me around £300! So im expecting to pay around the £400 mark next week. Just wondering if theres anywhere else you people would reccomend? What about Boots or Tescos? Any cheaper or better service or anything?

small independent shops.

they will be prepared to haggle.

maybe pay cash

look at discontinued styles.

The way to get a free pair is to steal them. (serious)

these glasses cost about a fiver to make

no they wont last you ten years

your paying for the label on the metal

specsavers are often flexible cos the are franchises.

so long as the regions shops aren't owned by the same person, you could play them off against each other.

I am in their contact lense scheme which gives me 50% off frames, but not all franchises offer this.

there's no point getting a free second pair if your prescription hasn't changed, it maybe better to get a good deal on one pair.

Get your prescription and order online from a site like goggle4u, dead cheap but takes a while to arrive. As good as designer.

I agree Goggles4u.com are great...do take a week or two but definately worth the risk...I have had 4 pairs from them and like them alle...only one was wrong and that was my fault...excellent (and more importantly cheaper) service.

Type One4Me to get a further 20% discount though this ends today
