Best (Non-Touristy) towns with beach in south Spain 2011

insidemaninsideman

Hi All, can anyone recommend any good small towns or villages in the south of Spain, with a beach, that is far away from the heavy tourist populations and party-life.
Thanks in advance

    Theres loads of small towns in Costa Blanca, the problem being you wont find a beach without driving.

    Beach = Tourists.

    agree. I stayed near there at santa sussana, any of those resorts along costa brava are cheap, have a beach and not too touristy as most go to the likes of benidorm etc. only a £5 train ride from barcelona as well, less than £300 for 2 in sept 2010 half board, using easyjet flights and booking hotel seperately. perfect for a relaxing break by the pool, bit of shopping on street markets, sightseeing in barcelona etc.

    Lagos, just up the road from Nerja. Torre Del Mar. Torox Costa.All lovely, relatively tourist-free (no beer swilling English idiots, at least)

    Tossa's not really in the south though, is it?

    I'm not sure what you are after here but Malaga is really nice with a proper historic centre (no party life but good flamenco shows etc) and beaches you can walk to if you are staying centrally and good buses.

    Most of the Costa Tropical is pretty nice. Salobrena is a personal favourite. I stay in the old town and it a nice walk down the windy streets and alley ways down to the coast. It's a bit of a trek back up, many get a taxi back if staying in the old town.

    Granada is well worth visiting as well as the villages in the lecrin valley.

    Also depending on the time of year and the weather you can ski (or snowboard) in the morning and spend the afternoon on the beach which from personal experience is pretty awesome. :)

    It's a shame it costs so much to get there now. Since ryan air stopped going from my local airport and the costs of taking my snowboard or bike has gone through the roof in recent years has limited my ongoing adventure of the part of the country.

    If heading into the wilderness learning just a little bit of Spanish goes a whole long way.

    OP said non-touristy. Nerja is packed with English.

    Rincon del la Victoria near Malaga is pretty decent and very quiet.
