best option for getting the new iphone

I've got 6 months to go on my vodafone contract and its £40 a month. I've currently got a sim free hd2 in perfect condition with quite a few expensive accessories. Should get 250 if i sell it. Now, if i were to call vodafone and offer to take out another 2 year contract now do you think they'd give me an iphone? OR is my best bet to sell my phone, clear the last 6 months and start fresh? Any advice please?

EDIT: anyone know if i can reduce the monthly price before paying it off? what month do you need to be in to bring the price down?

They might let you start the 24 month contract now, but they will add it onto the 6 months you currently have outstanding so it in effect becomes a 30 month contract.

i'd normally avoid a 2 year contract big time but with the iphone having such a good resale value i could sell it and basically buy any other phone.

I doubt they will, it doesn't usually work like that especially since you don't already own a iphone contract.

You might be better off selling the phone.

yeah i figured that but companies are jumping to get people to take out 2 year deals, thats already ontop of my 6 months left.

Yes I'd sell the HD2 and get an iphone (get in a few weeks when the market is flooded when new iphone is out) and run the contract out as a £40 contract isn't very competitive in today's market.

i guess your not trying to take advantage of the data price change that vodafone are bringing into effect.

oh i've looked into it, haven't seen anyone really get any success yet. I haven't used over 500mb yet either so i would have trouble arguing that. I could use that as a bargining chip i suppose.
