Best phone for about £100? Unlocked or O2 please!

Need to get a phone for my dad as his contract phone has broke :- ( and needs a new one. He likes Nokias, had a Samsung (didn't like too much) but never a Sony Ericsson. Wouldn't mind getting him a K850i but don't think it's possible for that price!

Any other suggestions?

PS: Don't mind going through the trouble of unlocking and debranding as long as it's with the supplied cable and readily available software.

Cheers

The cheapest k850i at the mo i think is £179

You could get a K800i for under that price, though, and they're really great too. :)

They have the K800i at the Carphone Warehouse (click here) for £89.95 on o2 (price includes £10 airtime, which is most likely pre-loaded on a SIM card).

Tempted by this:

But we already got one of these in the house, i don't know about you lot but i prefer having as many different phones in the house. I know it sounds strange.........

We got one of those as well :-D paid 90 quid for it from the link in August, that's broken down. CAmera stopped working, freezing, ear piece speaker gone etc etc. You've reminded me i need to ring them as well about that :w00t:! Cheers

K800i are going for £70 at play now as well!
#6
That's a fairly good price.

The K800i has much better specs if that's important to you at all, and also the firmware on Sony Ericssons is a lot less buggy than Nokias (I've NEVER had a problem) and the user interface is amazing. :)

At the end of the day, it's a bit of personal preference.

I was just about to post that, but it's a clearance so yes it is likely to be unlocked. I've had a clearance phone from e2save before, it was a LG choclate, condition was ok, but the plain white box was a bit of a suprise to me. I thought they'd use better packaging than that!

Oh mods can we have a random section where people can just post web links of stuff that they think might be good deals, but can't be bothered submitting? Eg: i've just found this:

http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/googledap/payg/product.aspx?offercode=ppord900ca

I think it's a good deal, but recently the deals i've put on have been deleted cos they are repeats which i can't find before submitting.

Just thought of about what i said, beats the whole objective of the site cos no one will bother rating them and people starting repeat threads. How about we can send you mods what we think might be a good deal?

the sony ericssons are only less buggy if you have no branding

branding = evil

mine has been back twice with software faults :x

I found the Vodafone branding on the K800i pretty good. In fact, dare i say it more advanced than a normal K800. Why? Well compared to a normal one when your in the gallery, if you hover over a video it actually plays it in, ie the icon animates the video, whereas a unbranded one doesn't.

I still overall agree debranding is better, much prefer my V20 unbranded Nokia N95 to the V12 i would have still been stuck on had i not flashed my phone!

Any more ideas guys? Just came from tesco and Asda not much there to be honest. myaser88's choice of black 6300 doesn't seem bad at all.
